Officially cancelled for Cingular.
I am out of the Washington/Baltimore market and we recieved an email a few days ago stating that the a630 has been officially cancelled for Cingular.
It didn't list a specific reason, but we have heard that it firstly was very unstable and did poor in testing. Which is not a surprise considering Motorola's software history.
And also, Cingular did not recieve a good buydown on the product. We did recieve POP material in the store indicating that the phone was $200 with a 2 year agreement, which means Motorola must've really not subsidized very fairly.
Ah well....

I live in the Washington/Baltimore area and I just spoke with a sales rep at a Cingular store in Alexandria, and he said the same thing. Does this mean its been cancelled all accross us or just this region? I've been out of contarct for a little over a year now and have been waiting for this phone for 3-4 months, before upgrading to GSM and signing a new contract....but if Cingular isn't going to sell the phone, I may just have to buy the phone from EBay, and then buy all the equipment, change plans, and upgrade the phone.....just seems like too much of a hassle.

I purchased this phone last week from the Cingular store in Glen Allen, they had just received a shipment and it was in the shipment. When I was in your area earlier in the week, I was told that Cingular wasn't releasing it because it didn't pass their approval standards.
