Motorola A630

Does anyone know if its possible to lock the keypad on the A630 while in a call. My Nokia 3108 had this function and it made it convenient to place my phone back in the case/holder on my hip and not press any buttons. I haven't found this on the A630 and wondered if it were possible. If not, I may just get another case that hold the phone horizontally instead of vertically.

I have been through the entire forum but haven't seen this issue mentioned. The "phone book" is completely unacceptable for keeping information about contacts. I came to the A630 from a sidekick. The SK address book holds name, phone, address, email address, info and more about each contact.

Does anyone know of an address book application that can be downloaded to the A630?

I miss the "real" internet that the SK had, but the internet service through TMO was crap at best. I am trying the webviewer app but have not been successful with it yet. The rest of the A630 is ok, I guess. I wish I could have tried it out for a week before I bought it. One thing I absolutely love is the BT headset. If the SK had BT I would never have go...

I finally got my phone working with the Bluetooth. Now my only problem is my contacts go from my phone to Outlook, but not from Outlook to my phone. Is there a setting I'm missing?

I just posted this in another subthread, but figured I would statr a new one so all could see!

Here is a great website that tells how to unlock the web sessions on the A630, it also tells you how to make your phone say what ever you want it to on the outer and inner displays. Like instead of saying "T-Mobile", you can say "PIMP" or whatever..lol

I had been waiting on A630 for Cingular, and even thought about gettin one unlocked, but a couple weeks ago decided to get a Siemens SK65 instead.
I've seen the Treo, blackberry, and nokias recommended for qwerty phones, just wanted to add another one to that list. There are 3 versions of this phone, two have the blackberry software and 1does not. I got the one that does not, paid $300 on ebay. There are a few online vendors that sell it for as little as $350. I like this phone a lot, all of the gripes I had about the A630 are not present on this phone. I just got the Motoroloa A630 that was unlocked from eBay, and I got onto my Cingular account no prob, except I can't web browse. The phone was a former T-mobile phone, and it keeps trying to go to a T-Zone for the web....does anyone know how I can reconfigure the phone for Cingular mobile web?? When I call the customer support, they keep telling me thathe phone's software is programmed for T-mobile and that there is nothing they can do......Th ething is I thought I've heard of others getting theirs working.

I purchased the Moto A620 yesterday evening at my local Cingular store in VA. The phone had just came in on yesterday that they had not been put on display or removed from the box. I purchased one. Yet, I have not seen a big difference in the A630. I have waited so long for this phone that it seems the excitement wore off once I purchased it.

The Cingular version is grey in color.

hows the RF on this phone? Can it hold a signal? how does it compare to the Moto VXXX series?

Cingular's version is dark grey in color and triband (850/1800/1900 MHz). I do have pictures to support what I am saying. If you want to see, just send me an email and I will send them to you. I have no reason to lie about it. You can even contact the store in which I purchased it to see if they have more. I purchased it from the Cingular Store at Virginia Center Commons Mall in Glen Allen, VA, from the store manager, Dave. The phone number is 804-261-3648. When I purchased the phone, it was just being checked in from the shipment that they had not gotten the chance to put a display out on the floor.

The phone comes in Cingular's normal Cingular packaging, which includes the Motorola a630 handset, OEM battery, OEM battery door, OEM...

1. Is there any way to activate and deactivate the speaker without flipping open and closing the phone respectively.
2. If I have to search a particulat name in the address book, how will I use the keypad to enter the name I m looking for ( Pressing an alphabet takes me to the first name starting with that alphabet. But how will I enter the second alphabet )

i like half of this forum called cingular .. still to this day cingular is discussing the possable release of this phone.. from what im told its still 50/50.. the only thing that makes any sense to any of this would be.. the store in question is for sure not a corp store and the owner felt the need to be sneeky and some how flashed and flexed and rebranded the phone for his stores sale.. sure this is all far fetched but im sure he made money on the sales of these phones so it would still be wurth it..

Ok so on the a630 forum someone claimed they have a Cingular branded a630. Well someone is also claiming they are selling one on ebay. So I checked it out and emailed the person to send me pics and they did and it is in fact Cingular branded. I also got a picture of the box that had the Cingular brand all over it. Are there any other reps in here that have any news on this?

I am out of the Washington/Baltimore market and we recieved an email a few days ago stating that the a630 has been officially cancelled for Cingular.

It didn't list a specific reason, but we have heard that it firstly was very unstable and did poor in testing. Which is not a surprise considering Motorola's software history.

And also, Cingular did not recieve a good buydown on the product. We did recieve POP material in the store indicating that the phone was $200 with a 2 year agreement, which means Motorola must've really not subsidized very fairly.

Ah well....

Moto rep also said that this phone is ging to be released for Cingular after all...Not until this summer though....still kinda late but at least it gives hopes for those of us that would still like to have this phone. Not really a lot of new phones coming out that can still compare to this model anyway.

I got the a630 off Amazon and so far I love it. But, like virtually every review on amazon says, the phonebook is confusing and unintuitive. I still cannot figure out how to have multiple numbers per name without the name showing up twice. How do you do this?
