With Verizon Iphone 5s, has anybody tried sending/receiving any pictures while talking on the phone?

Verizon wireless technology does not allow for simultaneously talking on the phone and data transfer.

Yeah, it's not going to happen. Verizons network operates on CDMA based technology which does not allow for the simultaneous transfer of data while on a voice call, unless you're in a wifi area. 🤣
This means if you have Verizon, then talk and surf is OUT. The same thing goes for Sprint and most prepaid networks. On TMobile it'll work to a certain extent, but not everywhere as their network is still rather IFFY. That being said, as Verizon implements LTE, they are actually moving towards becoming a GSM based operator, which means someday you'll be able to do it, just not yet. It'll probably be another 3-5 years at least. If you really need talk and surf, which is a legimately important feature for a lot of people, you're only o...
