Motorola V710
Transferring mp3 files from email to the phone
You rename the file from *.mp3 to *.mid (MIDI format). Then you e-mail it to your phone and it will work like a charm. Remember Verizon has a restriction of about 300KB per e-mail, so make sure your songs are below that.
Good Luck.
Is the only way to transfer ringtones/mp3's is to get the transflash card?

If you cannot attach to a txt msg any longer then I would say yes. Although, with the latest software version on the v710 they have disabled the Copy feature from T-Flash->Phone. You will need a data cable to unlock this feature.

Excuse what may be an obvious question to the more technically inclined, but attach a data cable where? I have a trans-flash card in my phone and a USB card reader for my computer. Can you clarify?
The data cable connects to the port on the bottom of your phone. Similar to how the phone charger does the data cable takes up the entire port on the bottom.

I've seen these cables on ebay for about $10. Will the phone accept MP3 for ring tone? or does it want MID?
It can't be that simple can it? What am I missing? Will Verizon block it somehow?
Thanks again for your help.
Record audio, rip to 96kb mono MP3 (my 22 second clip went to about 240kb), then use funformobile.com for the rest. I tried txt'ing through gmail and the file didn't get through.
