Hey Moto Fans!! I wanted to let you know that the Motorola MPx is NOT Cancelled and is very much alive and kicking!!

My brother works for Motorola in the R&D Dept for New Cellular Technology and he is very much in tune with the MPx...as a matter of fact this is his current project!! I spoke to him yesterday because I wanted to be one of the first to tryout this new phone when it is officially released in the U.S.

The reason for the delay is because the Motorola MPx is using a Microsoft Windows Pocket PC Operating System which will blow away the previous systems on the MPx200 & MPx220. The phone has got a lot of amazing features unavailable in the previously mentioned phones. It takes time to build "perfection" and get all the littl...

By the way, What's Phone Scoop without an "Inside Scoop"??

For those of you who want to jump on the MPx when it is officially released in the U.S. my brother who works at Motorola had notified me that he spoke with marketing and the first U.S Cell Phone Carrier to be picking up the "Next Generation" MPx will be Cingular!! So if you are on another carrier you may want to think about switching when the MPx comes out!!

In addition, from what I understand Cingular will have EXCLUSIVE Rights to this phone for the Entire First Year of Release!! Which means that other carriers won't see it until a year after Cingular!! This is similar to the exclusitivity Cingular currently has with the V3 RAZR!!

As you can see, if Motorola is going to...

The MPx is canceled. I should know - I broke the news.

It's not a rumor or something I heard from "a source". I was told flat-out by a Motorola head spokesperson - the person who gets paid to speak officially for Motorola. I've even seen the official FAQ sheet (on Motorola letterhead) about *why* it was canceled.

This is not the kind of thing spokespeople say unless it's absolutely true. That would be bad PR, and it's their job to avoid that kind of thing at all costs.

Now, with that said...

Could it be "un-canceled"? In theory, yes, but that kind of thing pretty much never happens in this industry.

Are they working on a new version (successor, update, spin-off... whatever you want to call it) that is on track to be released l...

I agree with you Rich, it's very likely Motorola will have a follow-up replacement product so it would have been a natural question to ask the spokesman about what upcoming models will have the same collection of features promised by the old MPX.

If Motorola continues in this silly silence and says nothing on a replacement, people like me who've waited through all the delays and postponements will start some serious shopping around and it's looking like the competition is coming really close to the lost promises of the MPX.

Rich,

Could you find out why Cingular is not picking up the v635?

Wish I had a brother like that 😎

The MPX has been for sale from Januari 2005 in some parts of Asia. In the rest of the world it won't be released at all anymore. The plant that manufactured the MPX has stopped producing them so it is the last stock on sale now. I have ordered mine from an Asian retailer because I just had to have this phone.
Motorola seems to be working on the MPX sucessor which is gonne use RAZR technology. A working prototype has already been showed to journalists. This project is named the RAZRberry because Moto beleaves (correctly to my opion) that this will be a blackberry killer.
Next to this Motorola is improving the (bios-)roms for the current MPX, available on the Asian market. The lastest bios rom from mar...

RAZR is not a technology. #2 Motorola is doing somethign with blackberry but they are working in conjunction with RIM to develop the email push to all motorola phones. So the blackberry service will be available to other phones other than just the Blackberry's themselves.

I think Motorola has technologies or a method of producing to take very little space in a phone. Maybe a RAZR doesn't have the conventional printlayer motherboard with OC on it but something that takes a lot less space and thickness.
Would blackberry come available on the existing Motorola phones as well?

I happened to stumble across this forum. Glad it's here. I've been looking for this MPx300/MPx for a long time. Here is some hopeful news. I called Motorola today (1-866-BUY-MOTO). I asked them if they planned to release the "MPx300" in the US. The response I got was that the "MPx" is being released. In fact it could be as early as late July or early August, however they were not 100% sure on the date. It definately will be released. However, I'm the kind of person that is a "See it when I believe it" person. This tech may not have know what he was talking about. So take the information as you may. I hope he was truthful about this and soon it will be available.
