Apparently Motorola wants to bring the production in-house. That could be why this phone has been continually delayed. Will it ever see the light of day?

Moto misses the mark... again!
When I first saw stories on this and saw the pics at my local Cingular store, I thought I finally found the perfect phone. Now I could consolidate my iPod, Nokia 6620, and Zaurus into a single device for work. But now, I think I'll just suffer with my 6620.
For a serious PDA/phone, it needs EDGE. Straight GPRS doesn't cut it. The keyboard does not look like it'd be easy to type on with it's messed up layout (why didn't they learn from the Nokia 3650?). And Windows Mobile is crap.

What's the deal exactly?
Are GSM phones really so simple that you can pull any ol' GSM phone from anywhere, switch that SIM chip out and you've got a working phone in the US?
I know I've asked this before and been told "Yes", but it just so feels like there should be a catch.
Maybe I'll search thru the "Techs & Trends" forum and maybe ask this there.
Lame keyboard layout...
If you're hardcore enough to want this thing, are you really going to want that keyboard?
