Macro mode?
Physically, it's a small switch next to the lens, that adjusts the focus of the lens. In normal mode, the focus is set to infinity, and anything closer than a couple feet is blurry. In macro mode, it's the other way around.

Rich is right. It's a cool feature on larger cameras, & very useful if you like doing extreme close-ups. I'm just a little afraid of the legendary Audiovox quality...

um, if there is a macro mode, does that mean there is no auto-focus lens. The audiovox 9950/toshiba vm4050 has an auto-focus lens so I was juss wondering if this phone still has that.

I don't believe that is true. A true auto-focus lens involves a small motor or actuator to move the lens, and significant processing power to determine correct focus. I'm not aware of any phones outside of Japan with that capability.
