Sony Ericsson Z500
I Got The Phone Now What?
Now i'm being told by cingular that in order to get a plan with them I need to buy a phone, I don't need another phone, I wanna use this awesome phone and i'm telling you guys the phone is awesome. It does everything!
I was told to just use the sim card from my old nokia and I did and it works, but i'm afraid i'll run into problems with this in the long run. They are saying they can't just send me a cingular sim card.
I have been on the phone with these folks since 3pm over 3 hrs and i've got the run another each time. They even gave me a number to call that was suppose to be customer care ...

I won this phone from Cingular and received it today without a sim card. I am an ATT customer with a GSM plan and a sim card for a nokia 3595 phone.

wait lemme check, my son's friend played around with it today, I haven't checked it out yet, I have it charging, lemme check ok....
The reason I ask is because I have the Sony Ericsson T616 (kinda old now). I don't have the best hearing, and I know previous Nokias have been louder. Just wondering if the ringer volume and when you're talking to someone, is the volume loud enough?
Also, does getting around the menus (just moving around in the phone) seem fast enough. My girlfriend has a Motorla V400, and it seems pretty slow.
Just very interested in buying this phone, WHENEVER it does actually come out!
Thanks.

OK I tested it, I put the volume on 8 and called my cell, it really doesn't ring very loud. I called my house and talked to my son on it the vol when talking to people is pretty good, he said it sounded like i was hollaring. But he didn't sound real loud to me.

Thanks, Mary. Wish it was a little louder then. Ah well, I'm still anxious to get it. I have so many questions, but I'll let you enjoy the phone!

Do the external and internal screens seem big enough?
When the phone is closed, does the external screen stay in color, or does it fade to dark?
When phone is open, does internal screen eventually fade or does it stay lit the whole time while you're talking? Just wondering b/c when I'm talking on the phone with my t616 at night, the screen stays lit, and it's very bright, which gets a little annoying? I wish it would fade to dark.
"it fades when closed"

when open it also fades along with the display window, i believe all this depends on which theme you have set on the phone. but it does fade pretty quickly..

Are you able to turn off the ascending ringer option so it will ring at the same volume from the first ring? That is the only feature that really bothers me about SE phones.
Great point! Does the T637 do the ascending ring? My T616 does, and it IS annoying. Sometimes you miss the first time it rings because it's so low.

and try to win the phone like I did, i'm a sweepstakes junky so I know a lot about sweepstakes and have won a lot of things. With this sweeps rules say you can enter as often as you like but one prize per person, so go there and just enter a lot, I promise you with at least 50 entries you will win something. The only catch is theres a lot of prizes so you may not win the phone. But who knows you can give it a try.

The menus are pretty easy to navigate, just so much stuff to learn.
The thing i'm must interested in is the MP3 player but when I go to that it tells me cannot go any farther, i don't even know how to download anything to this phone.

forgot to tell you the phone has an equalizer, I just found that.
Equalizer, huh! Wish I could help you out with the mp3 player part.
