Sony Ericsson Z500

I upgraded my Motorola T720 for this SE phone. I liked my Motorola until the hinge broke. The Z500 was a free upgrade with Cingular. Maybe I'm not picky, but I don't find any major flaws with my SE. Now, if I can figure out how to upload pics and video to my PC. I don't need gobs of ringtones, mp3, IR or bluetooth. I'm interested to see what free phone upgrades Cingular will have in 2007. 🙂

Hi, I just got the phone and I've read on the net that this phone has push-to-talk function? But I can't seem to find anything about it on the sony ericsson site or on the manual. Could someone explain this to me pleasse?

The manual doesn't tell you how to make the "flip" active or not active when receiving a call. Does anyboy know? Thanks.

I HAVE NEVER HATED A PHONE MORE IN MY LIFE. NICE ENOUGH FOR A SOCCER MOM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING AESTHETICALLY PLEASING BUT THE RECEPTION AND THE QUALITY OF THE SCREEN/CAMERA BITES ASS. I WOULD RATHER USE THE Z600 THAT I USED TO HAVE LAST YEAR. THE PRICES WERE ROUGHLY THE SAME BUT THE TECHNOLOGY REGRESSED. I WONDER WHY THEY RELEASED THIS ONE AFTERWARDS?
I WILL SAY IN THE DEFENSE OF THE PHONE THAT THE TEXT MESSAGING WAS EASIER THAN IT IS ON MY NOKIA 6670 BUT THATS A GIVEN CONSIDERING THE SIZE OF THE BUTTONS.
ANYONE ELSE OWN THIS PHONE AND HATE IT WITH A PASSION?

Need help in decision. I have heard so much about both.

Some of you guys say that the Sony Ericsson Z500 phone has a really bad battery life probably because of the video and stuff. What if I don't use the video stuff that much will I still need to charge it all the time? I'm a teenager and shopping for my first phone and this phone looks like one that I want. My friend has it and says that you can't change the cover yet people on this site say you can and there are a bunch of covers on-line. Please tell me what you guys think before I decided on a phone. I was also looking at a Motorola V220 except it's not a very colorful phone and has less features then the Sony Ericsson Z500.

I set my phone for 640x480 and took some shots at a granddaughter's birthday party. The worst one had a lot of backlight and lens flare messed it up; the best had good overall interior light, and produced a surprisingly good 4x6 (with borders, as required by my printer.

I downloaded these using File Manager and copied into PhotoShop. I changed the picture specifications as follows, using the Bicubic setting in PhotoShop for the image resampling:

width - 960 pixels
height = 1280 pixels
(i.e., I doubled the pixel count)

Document size:
width = 3.84 inches
height = 5.12 inches
resolutioin = 250 pixels/inch

I did NO post prosessing, such as unsharpen mask, and no color correction ... results looked almost as good is my 8MPixel...

well im a teenager and for my first phone I got a normal plain nokia phone and now im thinking about upgrading to a camera phone and my friend has this 1 and says its a good phone but i would like a couple more oppinions (i forgot how to spell it sorry) help me decide and if u can think of a phone i would like better please tell me

What really is Bluetooth? Is it necessary to have because I'm a teenage girl and I'm not sure if it's necessary to have.

I'm about to get the z500a and was wondering, do mp3 ringtones sound scratchy like on other phones or are they clear like with headphones or speakers.

All the images of this phone, including the one on Cingular's page, are in what Sony Ericsson calls their "Lagoon" faceplate. Yet when I purchased my phone, the Cingular rep told me it was only available in the "Urban Gray" faceplate. Cingular's and SE's customer care lines couldn't provide any info as to the choice of faceplates. I don't really care for the gray look. Anyone out there seen it or have it in the Lagoon version?

After reading all of these reviews I understand that I will need a USB cable in order to do the cool things. But, do I need software on the computer to send songs from my computer to my phone and to edit themes? I am so confused on what it is that I will need.

I have the DCU-11 CD-ROM and cable (via EBay), and got the download working OK. Can you upload from the phone to the PC just as well?

I am charging up this phone EVERY night, and there's no way I'm talking 10 hours a day. I get about 2 hours talk time or so, and I already have to charge the phone up.

I used to have the SE T616, which outlasted this phone by far in terms of battery life, and phonescoop says the t616 only gets 5 hours talk time.

For those of you who have the z500, are you getting anywhere close to 10 hours talk time? Could it be I got a bad battery or something?

How many missed, dialed, & received calls does the Z500a save? Also, can u assign MP3 ringtones to individual contacts in your phonebook? I know in my Nokia, u can only use tones that came with the phone. The downloaded tones are just for caller groups, and I don't like that. I'd appreciate the help. Thanx.

Just ordered the phone from someone on ebay but it seems as they are all coming with the grey colored faceplate. does anyone know where I can get the nice blue one that is used in all the promo stuff we see?

😳 When I buy this phone, do I have the option of getting the phone in lagoon? Does it cost extra to get it in lagoon? Is it a faceplate, or is it the actual phone?

Is there a blue tooth adapter available for this phone

I really like this phone. Unfortunately for me the lack of bluetooth was a non-starter 😡

SE made a ton of follow on phones to the T610. Anyone know if they are planning to do the same with the Z500. I had the Z600 at one point in time and it was a great phone. If they do here is what I think they should work on.

1. Bluetooth

2. Reduce the size to something around the size of the V551.

3. Brighter Screen

I just wanted to know if any one has tried this and was successful
