Motorola A840
Moto A840 or Samsung SCHA790 First?
Any further news on the Samsung and/or whether the Moto will come first as it's listed as being released 2nd half of 2004 vs. the Samsung's listing as "tentative?
Prelim thoughts on which is better?

The Samsung SCHA790, listed as "The first phone in the world that works on North American CDMA networks and also GSM networks overseas" on this site was first approved on Oct 22, 2003 by the FCC.

I've heard that while the 840 will support data on worldwide GSM networks...the 790 will not. As for which is better...I tend to go with phones that are built better and have less problems, and that is certainly Samsung.

Correct. The A840 has GPRS and the A790 does not. The A840 also has a megapixel camera, MP3 player, and memory card slot. 😁
They're both nice phones, though - very stylish (IMO) and with cameras and dual color displays. 😎
