Nokia 6255i. Cellular South. Next week.

Aching for a release date, I called Cellular South sales again, this time acting upset and very unhappy with my equipment, I informed the sales person that my contract is due to expire on the first of March and if I am not given the option of being able to buy a phone that will be at least as good as the phones I see being sold on Verizon's network I am not going to renew.

The guy told me that the Audiovox 6600 Palm/Phone was just released and that a brand new Nokia flip phone will be in stores the later half of next week.

Not sure what that might mean for those of you on other networks but you can be sure it isn't bad news!

I too am on the Cellular South network and want to buy this Nokia 6255i. However, if I buy it and later decided to switch to Sprint, would I be able to use it on the Sprint network since they are both CDMA?

Are Cellular South phones locked? Or are they only locked after activation? Looking to use on VZW. Are you able to get into the programming of the phones (SID, NAM, MIN, etc)?

Cellular South has never participated in the unsavory practice of locking phones and I doubt that they will start now. I am waiting with great anticipation for this phone to release!!!!!

That may be true that Cellular South doesn't lock their phones. But will Sprint activate a non-sprint phone on their network? Also, will the call quality be lower?

Well I called Friday to see when I could pick one up-- they told me the higher ups pushed back the date to 'the week of March 1' nothing more specific was given to the sales staff so that is all that is known. I have no way to contact the tech that told me the details from before so other than what I can pry from the sales staff I have no source of new information.

I suppose we can wait 10 more days if we've all waited this long.
