Cellular South

Cellular South will be the only company to have the 6255 for the first two months. If you don't believe me here's proof.

Looks like we got to it first.

Verizon, sorry...

😁 😁

I bet that when they say they have exclusive rights over competition for the first two months, they must mean in their RSA/MSA's. So another regional carrier, lets say, could sell it if they are not operating in the same licensed areas as Cellular South.

I'm sure you're right, as USCC will be getting this phone in a few weeks

It is looking like the tier 2 (US Cellular, Cellular South, others) or tier 3 providers (Local Cellular and PCS providers) are getting the phone first
The tier 1's (Verizon, Sprint, (Alltel?) are going to have to wait.
This phone now is looking to be more popular with the tier 2 and 3 since it does have alot of gizmos and gadgets at a reasonable price with service.
I am sure the national provider will do well with it. Verizon will only push this phone in places where there will be no EV-DO for awhile and people with $40 plans or less.

Why does everyone assume that Verizion will even want to carry this phone?

I'm willing to bet that Verizion never carries this phone at all. Main reason, it lacks EV-DO, which almost all new, high-end phones have.

This is not to be a high end phone, but a mid range phone for Verizon, but high end for the local providers

Anything is a "high-end" phone for Verizon. This includes two cans and a string. I get a great signal in my house with every carrier except Verizon. Lucky to get one bar with any of VZW phones. I realize it's not the phones fault. It's Verizon.

Alright then smartguy... what IS considered a high end phone? Maybe the Razr? It's coming to CDMA... is it 'higher end' than this Nokia? Not hardly.

Name another CDMA phone that does everything this Nokia can do in a form factor that is as small or smaller than the 6255i... I'm dying to hear.

You fail to see my point. I seriously doubt that Verizion will even carry this phone at all.

I'm not talking about your point-- I am talking about the comment made

"This is not to be a high end phone, but a mid range phone for Verizon, but high end for the local providers"

That is just ignorant, this IS Nokia's high-end CDMA... that is the bottom line, anyone saying otherwise is a moron.

I agree with w0rdie on this one. Verizon Wireless offers phones way cheaper than this look at there own website. They offer Nokia 6015i, LG VX3200, Kyocera K404. These are all low range phones today. Why does Verizon Wireless offers them?? They have some customers that pay there bills, but can't afford anything real nice is why. Some people just want a free phone and I don't see Verizon offering an EV-DO for free anytime soon.

I guess my point is that this phone is too advanced to be a midrange phone and not advanced enough to be a high-ender for verizion. I really doubt that they will ever carry a phone like this, it just doesn't seem to fit with them.

According to our Nokia Rep for USCC, Verizon WILL carry this phone after our 60 day intro period. 😲

As for the comment made about the CDMA RAZR, well, thats not going to be out for quite some time. They are talking late 2006 so they may very well carry this, but I hope you can wait for it. 😳

Both Cell South and US Cellular are super regional carriers as compared to being National carriers. The exclusive rights given to Cell South to sell this phone apply only to their area; therefore US Cellular will be another exclusive provider for the same 60 day time frame. Now, we are not releasing the phone on April 20th as planned, but I don't believe that will change the original 60 day exclusivity. We will be releasing it in mid May and I imagine Verizon will get it in June. Hope this helps to clarify a little better.
