Just an FYI, our local Best Buy just got these in today according to the person I bought it from and they went fast, I just bought the last one.

Details:

$249.99 retail without a contract

$99 with a contract

You also get a rebate for either a $30 Best Buy gift card or a free bluetooth headset.

I have yet to turn it on, I'm being anal; you know, charging it for 24 hours before using it and all...So tomorrow night I'll know if bluetooth really is crippled on it or not.

Strictly speaking of the physical design, not bad...not flashy either though and the portion of the flip that the screens are on is really thick, more so than I've seen on other flips. Seems pretty solid overall. Can't wait to start using it and ditch my v710 ...

One thing I've noticed is dat Best Buys' website SUCKS. They take forever to update it, you can never rely on it. Your better off checkin' at the store.

I'll be very interested to hear what you think of the reception in PDX. I live in close-in SE - kind of the gray area between Eastmoreland and Woodstock and reception is lame in my area. Looking for something that really pulls in a signal.

What part of town do you live/work in?

I was impatient because this was MONTHS in the making...If we were talking about "oh, hey, VZW is going to have a flip, bluetooth nokia!" then 2-3 weeks later your able to buy it that's one thing, but the VZW branded phone has been seen for MONTHS before it was finally available.

Why do you insist on acting like I am alone in the complaint about the manner in which this phone was released for VZW? I'm sure you read other posts here besides mine and this complaint is pretty common here...

😁 I just returned from getting my 6256i from Best Buy. They were not even sure they had it, until they looked under the counter! So far- I am impressed with the things I can do, sending files via infrared from my Treo and contacts as well. Looking forward to seeing how the software works when I get to a PC rather than my mac. As far as I can tell, the call quality is very good, clear and good volume. Go for it- the salesman at Best Buy thought the phone would not be available until Christmas( interesting) and that he had just returned from a conference where this phone was discussed and detailed-then it showed up on inventory-phone was not even out on display!

I think im gonna go get it 2morrow..If im not working im gonna go check it out and maybe get it either 2morrow or on the weekend after i get paid so maybe sat...But Im gonna have 2 pay the full retail price because my contract has not expired yet, not till March but I dont wanna wait that long. Any1 else pay the full price? If so is it worth it? Because honestly I have had my Nokia 3589i 4 almost 2 years and with perfect reception barely dropped calls like once a week if any..I just need an update ya know? I would like a camera phone I hear the camera on it is really nice..Anyway besides that I heard its a wonderfull phone from a lot of dif people...Wish me Luck!! Im nervous because I love the phone I have now even though its old and bulky.....

If your contract expires in March, then you should be eligible to get the upgrade price 2 months b4 that, which is January.

The bummer is dat they don' give you any price break fo' doin' a 1-yr contract extension upgrade with this phone, only with a 2-yr upgrade (which drops the price to $149). That's at Best Buy of course, I don' know what Radio Shack is doin'.

If your Nokia 3589 is still goin' strong I'd jus' wait an' save yo'self 100 bucks. But call CS an' ask 'em when you're eligible to upgrade, to be sure.

Oh, an' the camera is only ok, maybe a sliver better than ok if you set the quality to 'High'.

I believe, however, that the NE2 is available only from the VZW stores. I too am eligible but am going to wait until the end of the month to see if this phone is offered in the VZW stores. If not, hello Best Buy!!

NE2 an' upgrade pricin' are two diff'rent things, tho'. The NE2 gives you an additional $100 off the upgrade pricing. But the upgrade pricing is still a price break from full retail even wit'out the NE2.

But your right, NE2 ain't available from anyplace but the Verizon corporate stores, an' I don' think they're carryin' the 6256i.

I'm not sure, I've only ever bought phones from the corp stores. I was just thinking of the normal service you get from Best Buy with anything you buy there, which pretty much sucks. The corp stores at least have a vested interest in keeping customers happy, you have to stand around a Best Buy for 10 minutes just to get a question answered.

hmmmm....Ok...I thought it was the same thing its still Verizon I never really thought about that..I thought it was the same thing except without the corperate part..Ill call Verizon on Fri and ask them if they got it in..I really dont think it should be 2 bad..Im afraid 2 ask them cuz they'll prob do anything 2 get u 2 buy a phone..Has any1 baught this phone from Best Buy give me any advice?

Hmm. At my local corporate VZN store, you have to put your name on a list, THEN wait for 10-20 minutes to get the privilege of talking to someone.

The Dallas Metro area has a bunch of stores, I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to get someone over to talk to me at the stores I have been to. Also the Verizon store in circuit city is a verizon store not an independant agent.

That's EXACTLY what a Verizon store told me here in MA. Kind of makes you wonder about the quality if this is an accurate statement.

Its probably not an accurate statment tho'.

Its probably somethin' corp store reps say 'cus they know don' have a phone your interested in, so they want to lay some fear-uncertainty-doubt on the agent-exclusive phones so that you buy a phone from them at the corporate store. And not from an agent.

Think 'bout it.. why would Verizon let ANYONE sell an 'inferior' p...

I've waited until 4 days after the first date when 6256i was ever available in a BestBuy store (Sunday according to this board) and still got "no, we don't have it yet" from my BestBuy. I insisted the guy look up the SKU into their system and still "it's not in the system". Wow, I'm impressed!
