Verizon Stores Don't Carry Nokia 6256i

Why don't Verizon stores carry the Nokia 6256i? It is only available at Best Buy and Radioshack and online. Best Buy and Radioshack claim that the new every two is not valid in their stores. Furthermore, Best Buy has the phone but not on display like they are trying to hide it. The cost is outrageous anywhere from $249 to $299. And the guy at Radioshack told me that in another month they are droppping Verizon and going to sell Cingular crap. If you can't use your new every two on a Verizon phone you want then that is just plain stupid. I'm seriously thinking of going to Alltel but Verizon's network and price plans are better.

Aha! This is the answer to the question I posted about the differences in buying from BB or VzW AFTER the purchase is made.

So the answer is: VzW offers you New Every Two Years. Best Buys does not.

That is a big argument for buying at the VzW store.

I did go to the VzW booth in Circuit City last week. The salesgal told me that she didn't know when the Nokia 6256i would come to VzW stores. She did not say that VzW stores would not carry/sell the 6256i!

The fact is they don't carry it and I think Verizon doesn't care if you are happy that you can use your new every two they just want to string you along as a customer, it is all about making money. Which is why they don't carry the 6256i cause it is the first phone with full bluetooth not a crippled version. And I'm not spending 249 to 299 at Best Buy they are rude not very helpful and a ripoff. They still don't have the phone on display and they won't let you see how it feels or test it I wonder why? They want to get rid of their inventory and sell you an older phone that is crap. I think that is dishonest and almost qualifies as a shady business practice.

Lorna - do you have any idea how many people here have already explained that to you? Do you not read the answers to your questions?

Dear MK......

I read all the answers to my posts and many of the other posts among other people. When I first posted the question, I did not get a STRAIGHT answer. When I don't get straight answers, I continue asking.

Regarding NE2, I knew that VERIZON gives it but I wasn't sure that Best Buy offers the same NE2. I am still learning. I bought my Moto V60i from Good Guys and my phone before it from some auto place named Harry's Around Sound or some such thing and never had to deal with them for repairs, new phones, etc, so I don't have much experience.

I come from the school of not accepting an answer as gospel until it is supported by other like answers (unless it comes from the original source, like the Nokia Support Guy answerin...

Some answers are pretty straightforward, like NE2 only being available from Verizon. That was answered many, many times. Not sure why that wasn't clear from the beginning. Many of us like to help when someone answers a question. People like you continue to ask over and over and over - kinda abuses what we're all here to do, ya know. We get sick of seeing the same thing. If you don't like what we have to say, maybe you need to take it elsewhere. I for one am sick of seeing your posts. It's like living in Groundhog Day.

NE2 has been *mentioned* many times, but not as a direct answer to the question I posted. Also, NE2 might be familiar to Verizon people, but to me, NE2 could have possibly meant Verizon AND other parties that sell phones. It could also mean the same thing for Cingular etc, but by another name.

What is very clear to someone familair with Verizon/Cingular/ TM, etc, is not necessarily clear to someone who is on AT&T and who never bought from a regular store.

I ask until the answer is clear. Just because people have mentioned NE2 in the past does not mean that I processed it as an answer to my question now, or that one *should* process it as an answer. A lot of decisions are made that way, and people get burned because they presumed incorr...

hey there lorna ...just to answer the question that all these dips wont just answer and want to complain about .. you can buy your first phone wherever you want ...but to use the NE2 you have to go to a direct VZW store not a bestbuy or authorized agent ....but see not everyone knows about the NE2 and alot of people would rather just go pay for their phone instead of waitin in line at a direct store (which could take up to an hour or so depending where you are) ...so if you have any questions i will try and answer and not make you feel dumb cuz your not a phone geek..

Well, before I returned to the Nokia Experience Center I walked about 500 feet to the VzW kiosk and asked NE2 questions. The sales rep there told me that in two years, no matter where I buy my phone, I will be eligible for NE2.

However, this may be a moot point, since I signed up for only ONE year because I want to maintain the option of leaving to another carrier if I so desire. I have no desire or plan to, but one never knows what will happen. So, with that in mind, I might never take advantage of the NE2.

I guess that if I DO stay, then after my second year I will be eligible for NE2.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate it a lot. 🙂

Excerpted from the URL given:
"You must retain the same wireless handset for 24 months in order to receive the full advantages of this program."

This is exactly what I was saying: That if I opt to continue after my one year contract is up, then at the end of the second year and the completion of a total of 24 months total from first signing up, I will be eligible for NE2. The Nokia sales rep at the Experience Center said the same thing.

I figured this without seeing the VzW website but thank you for sending the URL. It's nice to have it written out.

I wonder if that is a slight change in VZW's policy. A few years ago, I wanted to use my NE2, but the rep told me that I had the phone more than long enough, but I wasn't under contract for the last 15 months, and therefore ineligible.

I politely protested and got the NE2.

No lorna you have two sign a two year agreement to begin with and since you signed a one year agreement you will not qualify traust me. If you want from your handset dial 611 and ask a customer service representative about new every two.

So many different answers, even when coming from Verizon reps (and I suspect Cingular, TM, Sprint, etc). If what you say is true, then I have to consider it just my tough luck, on that issue, anyhow. The upside is what was important to me: To have the option of leaving VzW without penalty at the end of my one year contract. I fully expect my Nokia 6256i to last me more than one year, anyhow.

Lorna unless you sign and stay on a two year agreement of 39.99 or higher you are no eligble for new every two. Since you signed a 1 yr contract you are not eligible for it.

Oh well based on the post of their policy you may want to see if you could switch to a two year agrreement then you could be eligible for the new every two.

If I like Verizon and if there is another phone with fully enabled BlueTooth in existence at the time with VzW I might want to take advantage of it, if a NE2 is possible for me. But it all hinges on how satisfied I am with VzW in general. One thing which I WILL pay more attention to is what kind of reception my friends' phones get here in my upstairs office and bedroom where I do my long distance calls.* That is something I never before thought of because I was so satisfied with AT&T and my trusty ruby red Motorola V60i.

*I dropped long distance on my land line a long time ago.

As a recap, I bought mine at Radio Shack, who appears to no longer be an AA of VZW.

I had:

1) The same phone for over two year
2) A two-year contract, over $35

I paid $60 for this phone since RS honored my NE/discount.

As a result of this purchase, VZW says I will be eligible for NE2 in two years, if I don't change phones.

All of this is contrary to what many here have stated, and in accordance with VZW's published policy.

It may be that RS didn't have to give me an NE2 discount, (the phone already had a $100 discount from the MSRP) but when the RS guy saw my history he gave me the NE2 without even asking.

Sweet.
