Identifying icons on the main display (User Manual incomplete)
lornaDec 6, 2005, 4:32 PM
I am trying to learn what those icons on the main display mean when phone is in standby mode. This is a task bc the user manual (page 11) fails to identify some of the icons that I am seeing on my 6256i.
1. At the top of the screen, what is the meaning of a round black ball surrounded by two pairs of parentheses?
2. On the far left upper side of the main display, what is the meaning of what seems like a 3-pronged pitchfork standing on its end with horizontal bars over it? Right now it is TWO horizontal bars but I suspect those bars change.

1. You mean the thing near the upper left that looks like crosshairs? I don' know. The important part seems ta be the '1x' symbol next to it, which means you is on the digital network (which is where you'll be mosta the time. The 6256i is trimode tho', which means it can go onto an analog network if it has to. You might see an 'A' there if its gone analog, which should happen rarely, an' only out in the boondocks).
2. The 'pitchfork' (lol) is a network tower. The bars above it are how many bars of signal strength you got. Four bars is max (great signal). Zero bars is bad (very little or no signal). I get 2-3 bars at home, an' that works great.. very clear calls that sound significantly better than my friends phones, even when their phones...

The crosshairs icon is for messages, I think. That one IS in the UserManual. Thanks for telling me about the Pitchfork Towers. 😉 Here in my upstairs office I have two bars, and that works fine.
I find that it is much easier to hear if I have the Nokia HS 11-W earbud on, and I can see myself wearing it a lot. It is actually better than the speakerphone.

Thanks. 🙄 As you can tell, I never paid attention to these icons with my Motorola V60i with AT&T.
