I've tried Motorola (H700) and Plantronics (320 and 640) and none of these BT headsets were worth keeping due to static and poor sound quality. Does anyone have a suggestion insofar as a reliable brand and model which works well with the 6256i?

I bought the Nokia BlueTooth earbud: Hs-11W. It does all of the basic actions and the sound is clear and real, not tinny. The ear clasp is soft and flexible so that I can wear it for hours and not feel it at all, yet it stays in place and never falls off. I recommend it.

Thanks, Lorna - I thought of getting that one but the cord and receiver kind of turns me off because you have two devices to deal with, plus a cord. Might as well use a corded headset, or? Sell me more on it, please. Also, do you notice any static at all?

The Nokia HS-11W BlueTooth earbud has no cords. It is only the earbud attached to your ear. Several months ago while researching the Nokia 6682 used the other rounder Nokia earbud and it was great, but I believe that the one I bought, longer and thinner and black, is more comfortable and equally fine on sound. It has 6 hours talk time and 160 hours standby time.
I opted to stay with a Nokia brand earbud after reading about the much touted Motorola earbud. The article was about a test on that Motorola earbud, on a Motorola phone and another brand. Results: The Motorola earbud did better on the Motorola phone and not as well on the other brand phone. That was enough to make me value getting an earbud of the same brand as the phone. Had I bo...

Thanks, Loran - I was mixed up and thought you were talking about the HS-21W which has a flexible ear bud and a short cord to the receiver which you have to clip on your shirt or jacket near your ear.
I think you're right about sticking with the same brand because I've tried both Motorola and Plantronics and they both gave a lot of static. The connection must be faulty. So you don't notice any static or echoing with the HS-11W?

No, no static. But then, I am not sure whether static is an indication of something in the phone or something else. I think that if one hears static on the earbud but not on the phone, then that is a sure indication that the earbud is at fault. I find that the speakerphone does get rough if I turn it up too loud, but I do mostly BlueTooth calls, and only use the speakerphone/loudspeaker for experimenting with my phone, listening to prompts, etc.
Go to the Nokia website and take a look at the BlueTooth earbuds. Better still is to go to a Nokia Experience Center like I did. That way the rep can pair the BlueTooth earbud to your phone and you can hear how it sounds. If you want, you can also listen to see how the earbud sounds to the othe...

hey lorna, can you do voice dial from the earbud itself, or do u need to activate it from the phone??

I can do voice dial from the earbud itself. I speak of voice dialing for contacts which have been Voice Tagged already, not for contacts for whom you have not yet made a voice tag. I do everything with the BlueTooth earbud bc I am aversive to holding a phone up to my ear while doing whatever else I am doing. The sound seems clearer, too, but that may be a very biased and subjective opinion! 🙂
