Either Verizon or Nokia (I cant remember which one) disabled the ability to use MP3s as ringtones. You can, however, set that mp3 as a SMS alert. There is a program called Diego that allows you to enable that sort of stuff, but I have no clue how to use it, let alone how to get it. It is really a shame, this phone would be perfect if you could set mp3s as ringtones.
As for the ringtones I have, I downloaded them through Get it Now. That is Verizon only though and I dont know what carrier you have. If the carrier has a BREW application on the phone for you to use, that may be the only way to get ringers.
Yes, simply go to the contact and hit options, then scroll down until you see Custom Tone.

I would say that's a Verizon thing, as my 6255i plays .mp3 ringtones with no issues. The only problem that I'm having is getting .mp3s for use from the memory card for individual numbers, but I hear the Diego fixes this.

All the mp3's Ive used work just fine. I've also cut them and changed the bit rate to make the files smaller. I don't have a memory card yet so I have to use my 6mb wisely. It may also depend on the folder you're putting the mp3 into.
Good Luck.
