Samsung SPH-i550
when oh when samsung. wait until it is old technology?
I have talked to people at sprint, samsung, verizon and looked all over the internet. 6 mo ago i bought the treo 600 at full price from sprint. i love the sprint service and customer care. but i am sad to say I am on my 4th treo in 6mo. they keep breaking and i always have less service than sprint customers with less advanced phones. i have been told by sprint that the i550 has been scraped. i was told by samsung it has been delayed. i was told by verizon that they have a finished version on shelves now, and finally the internet that has told me that cell phone companies will often hold phones until technology has come close to what they have so it is not such a huge leap for cell providers to jump on board. my question is when will i...

I was in a Sprint store yesterday and when the clerk saw my i500, he told me that the i550 should be in stores next week.

Are you sure he didn't mean the i600? That phone (Windows-based PDA) is in fact in the proceess of being released and shipped to Sprint stores. I still keep hearing Q1 of 2005 on the i550.

Has anyone gotten a straight answer from anyone at sprint or samsung. Are there any other websites to look at for information? Did I see an I550 in the hand of a woman in a sprint commercial talking about sms? is that a good sign. I think I also saw one when i was watching the grammy's the other night. i'm not sure though.

I was just at my Sprint office/store and asked the manager, who has been reliable in the past, about this. He said that Sprint as not yet said anything about the availability of this phone.
As a matter of interest, he said that if anyone from Sprint has given a date, they are in error, as they all find out at once.

Yeah, I just went there. They have five items for the 550, but all are either not in stock or discontinued.
Since Amazon says that about everything they don't have, they most likely are just waiting 'till they do, or are holding them until the phone itself is intro'd.
Amazon often gets this stuff ready a couple of months in advance.
