Samsung SPH-i550
well, I pre-ordered the 650
Well I combed the net looking for ANY signs that the i550 would be available soon and couldn't find anything positive. While this is the unit I'd prefer, I'n not waiting anymore. So I hit the PalmOne site today and preordered the TREO 650. I guess someday Samsung will realize that they are losing customers each day the i550 isn't available.

hi everyone,im a 1st timer here. a cust. brought to my attn. a few days ago that the i550 was in the works and told me to check out this site to get info on it,so i read all the threads last night. i really like the i500 but returned it because it had no speaker no camera and not able to dl ringers. after reading up on the i550 i was hooked, just so happened we had a sales rally and a samnsung division manager was there and told us that they had been going back and forth on a release date for it but i was told it would be out 1Q 05, hope this info. helps

It's too late. by then I'll have been using my TREO 650 for several months. Unfortunately, I can't believe that the phone will come out as expected, since they've missed every other announced release. I think that all the delays will directly cost Samsung sales on the i550. But if you're willing to wait, go for it. I think the i550 is going to be a solid phone.

You say they have missed "announced releases", but to be fair to Sprint and Samsung, they have announced nothing. This kind of negative backlash is exactly why they do not announce when they expect to launch phones.
Phonscoop and such sites are good for gathering rumors and un-official information, but don't think that anything you read here is the gospel according to Len Lauer (SprintPCS chief).
