Bluetooth!

For all you people that are thinking that this phone can use bluetooth I just got the word from Samsung Corporate HQ that no bluetooth sd card out there will support the voice function needed to utilize the wireless headsets from jabra etc. However if an adapter is available that coverts the unit from bluetooth to a 2.5mm standard jack then it is possible. Hope this puts some rest to any mistaken ideas.

A lot of fat good that would do...so pretty much there is no way to have a wireless "Jabra-esque" earpiece with this phone...yes?

What is it with you guys about Bluetooth? Haven't any of you heard about the security problems it has? This technology has major problems. If you care about your personal info., you should look carefully at this.

What interests me more is the burb on Samsungs Russian site about the SD card radio receiver, and the GPS card.

Blutooth is a wireless system that is short range - up to 20 or thirty feet, though there are products that can extend this to over 100 feet.

For phones, it allows you to have a headphone mic. unit without a physical hookup to the phone. That way, when you are walking down the street you can look as though you are talking to yourself.

The problem is that it is so insecure that anyone within range can download all the data off your phone or PDA, as well as listen on your conversation.

You mentioned that people within range of your bluetooth device would be able to listen in on a conversation. That is not accurate. Their bluetooth device would have to first be paired with your bluetooth device in order to listen in on the conversation.

Actually, that is incorrect. In theory, you are right. But the security problems are such that anyone can break in. There are ways to, on the fly, and temporarily, lock to the transmitter.

The problem is that Bluetooth was made without any security. The pairing concept is to prevent two devices of the same type from struggling to control the same computer, phone, etc. It's not really a security service. The reason is that it was thought that with such short range it would be impractical to break in on a link, but it has proven otherwise.
