Release Date?!?
Does anyone out there have and actual release date for this phone? All Phone Scoop says is 4th Quarter. I really want this thing, but I am not a very patient person. Thanks.

Actually, I work for Radioshack, and was talking to my Sprint Rep. today. She told me she thought it was being released in September. She mentioned that she had actually played with a working demo of it. I truly hope she is right, but I have heard other places the same thing you are saying. Here's Hoping!

I've heard Q4-2004, I've heard Q1-2005, and now a POTENTIAL release late in the 3rd quarter of 2004 (September). Has anyone gotten a solid release date? Or are we all working from speculation? SO I ask everyone who posts release information to also post the site where they got it. Thanks.

Personally, I am getting tired of waiting. If the unit isn't available by this Christmas, I'll probably end up getting the TREO 650/ACE.

As for working demos, I personally played with one at CommunicAsia in Singapore in June. It was quite cool, and I even popped in my SD card with some MP3s, which played nicely. I played the tunes through the speakerphone.
The delays we now see are caused by customization and testing within Sprint PCS. This takes a fair amount of time. When the i500 was only a rumor, it took SPCS almost 6 months to make it a reality. Given all that time, I expected lots of customizations and integration into the SPCS Vision service, but was extremely surprised to see almost NO Vision integration, save a few bookmarks to Sprint WAP page in the Blazer browser. Sheez, you can't even download ringtones from the SPCS store to the phone. Not that I live by ringt...
