After discovering there was no software with the V3, I downloaded MPT3.11h from BVRP (who wrote the program for Motorola.)

I've since discovered that with a bluetooth connection, you dont need MPT to send music and pics to the phone. But you do need it to download pics FROM the phone, (as well as setting up your phonebook or Outlook.)

The program only supports a "Motorola" Bluetooth USB adapter. I have a Linksys adapter but after two days I did manage to get it all working properly. But when I tried to use it a week later, it would not connect with the phone.

BVRP does not provide tech support and referred me to Motorola support. Talk about a dead-end there. I'm never calling those clowns again.

Am I the only one with this situat...

Interesting.

I have mpt version 2 something, the 3 I havent grabbed yet.

However I use mpt with the BT stack on my computer (I have the Logitech Di Novo Desktop BT keyboard and MX900 mouse). That stack works with my V3 and my V600 just fine.

For example, if browsing the web with IE I see an image I'd like on the phone, I can right click and use the "send to Bluetooh" menu option, whicch is part of the BT stack, not mpt or moto itself. Sends to the phone if paired and selected at that time with no issues.

Based on that the idea that mpt needs a moto BT adapter is completely false IMO.

When looking at the pic on the phone, hit the menu button, scrool down to copy(move if you want to delete from phone), you will see phones you are paried with or the option to look for new devices is there, chhose the device and BOOM SHAKA LAKA, pic goes to pc, pda or other phone.

Hope this helps.

I have a belkin bluetooth adaptor and it works fine with the MPT 3.11. It worked fine with previous versions as well. The software is slow sometimes... and even hangs sometimes, but hey I didn't pay for it, so I'm not complaining. 🙂

Secondly, you can use the software that came with your bluetooth adaptor to transfer files to and from your phone. I found that most of the software that comes with these adaptors is identical (written by WICOMM). Not sure if applies to you as well, but I've had a few different adaptors and the software was always through them. Anyway, my point is, if you go in to the OBEX file transfer folder, you should see one folder for audio, one for pictures and one for video. You can drag and drop files back and ...

It's the "MultiMedia" section of mpt that will not connect.

The "Phonebook" connects just fine. But when I click on MultiMedia, it sits there for about a minute with the cursur hourglass, then all the icons for phone/computer gray out and nothing works on that screen. All I can do is close it and go back to phonebook where it reconnects.

Go figure.
