V3 vs. Prada handbag?

😡 I have a V3 and it's little more than a fashion accessory. Sure, I don't expect it to be as functional as a PDA, but it should at least be a phone! I can't even program a calling card number into it! I phone internationally more than I do locally, and I can't even make use of this functionality that I've had in my 6 year old Ericsson, my 4 year old Motorola and even my cr@ppy LG that came free with my Sprint contract (!!) Maybe it's a subtle drive to force us to use ATT/Cingular's international rates, but it should at least have full functionality as far as a phone is concerned!!

The PIM functionality also sucks, and synchronization with Outlook is sketchy even after I shelled out an additional $50 for the software that the comes free ...

my point exactly...and IT DOES NOT EVEN LOOK COOL. It DOES not make ANY statement besides "I'm an idiot, I paid $500 DOLLARS for a cell phone" that does NOT look phenomonally cool or 'razr' thin. To top it off, the BASIC features aren't even the best of the BASIC...haha too much hype, not enough practicality...it was a decent effort by motorola, and it appears that they got their money's worth...hopefully this phone at least opens the doors for a better (hopefully MUCH better) phone in the future.

This is more amusing than the last comment.

Seriously, a $500 handbag? That's a great investment. You have fun with your purse, and thanks for playing! 😉

Many analogies have been made to luxury items in this forum - Rolexes, Porsches, etc. When you come right down to it, the V3 is no technological marvel, and doesn't purport to be one. It's a "statement" luxury item that costs a few hundred more than the run-of-the-mill equivalent, not a few thousand more - - or $10,000, or $100,000.

I'll offer that the need to have prepaid phones points out the core absurdity of the cell phone market - if your credit rating is such that you can't qualify, I'd say the last thing you need is a damm cell phone.

The decision to buy a V3 - or a Prada purse - isn't entirely rational. But, what fun would that be?

Don't be stupid. My post was a cynical analogy to overpriced luxury goods. Let me spell it out for you:

A Prada handbag, whilst expensive, is at least usable as a handbag. My V3, which is also a top of the line luxury item (a phone), doesn't have even the most basic functions of a phone (the ability to use an alternative carrier for international calls.) You trashed someone else for complaining about the features of this phone - and I quote "...A phone is a phone. Most of us just want to make and receive calls. If you want something with better features, then go buy that phone..."

I want to make and receive calls. I at least expect to be able to do that!

...and yes, I can program my calling card into an address book entry, and even ...

It's obvious you're the kind of person who would complain about a wet dream messing up your sheets. No doubt about it, the V3 is not for you. It needs more bells and whistles, maybe a video camera and cruise control...

The price of the V3 is based on it's size and styling, not it's exotic features. It's got a solid feel, it's light weight, and it's reception appears to be light years ahead of previous generations of motorola flip phones.

I didn't get this phone because it has a camera, ringtones, or other such crap. I got it for the afore-mentioned reasons and because it's styling is really cool.

Go get an entry-level Nokia, put it in your Prada handbag, and leave us reasonable folks alone...

Did you even READ my post? I only want it to be a decent PHONE - and at clearly falls short of that.

When you refer to reasonable folks, do you mean the members of this forum, or do you mean the members of this forum who share your views on the V3?

I guarantee that this phone has fallen short of at least half the people here's expectations (those who don't just look at styling.)

I did read your post, did you READ any of mine? This is more than a decent phone. As phones go, it's outstanding.

I've had many moto flip phones, and this one is the best yet. I had a Nokia with the calling card feature you want, but I don't recall ANY of my previous motos having it. Thus, by your defi...

You haven't been reading, it IS a DECENT phone, in fact is is much better than my V600 or V620 (although the 620 shares a smaller but same resolution screen and can do video recording).

The V3 is a V600 with better styling, better reception, and just about the same features. I consider it an upgrade to me, and I use my phone as a phone, with text messaging on the side and only slightly for internet usage, etc.
I find I still have great reception in known dead cingular areas down here, where others next to me cant get a call out ...

If you were looking for it to make toast for you in the morning, then we know where you stand, but my expectations were that it was a better phone, and so far it has fufilled all of those expectations, for ...

You are guy, and you are talking about buying a handbag. This is getting even better than i had hoped. 🤣

It is pretty safe to say that i wasn't being stupid at all.

Oh wait, you are the person comparing a phone to a handbag. Now i apologize for not knowing how much a commodity the Prada handbag is, but it seems like you have enlightened us all with its amazing features.

I could care less if you love or hate the phone. But when you are comparing it to a purse, then i am going to make a comment on it.

All i know, is that i can speak for a large portion in this forum, when i can say that the V3 does everything we need it to do. As i said in previous posts, which you quoted me on before.......if the phones isn't what yo...

I'm not going waste time on a decent reply - did you even READ my post?

FYI - some guys do buy handbags - I don't, but some DO. So, if you want to get bigoted and sexist, go rant and rave on forums.bigots.org. This is for opinions and question about V3s. I've offered mine - clearly it offends you, as you still need to justify to yourself why your still holding this piece of cr@p is your hands. Mine's gone back to the shop.

If you don't like the phone, by all means, you shouldn't own it. However, V3 is one of the hottest X-Mas item in the market as quoted in Forbes and other magazines. Cingular can't have enough of these V3s on shelves. As for me I make my living on bad desgined phones because they break and I fix them. This however is a good designed (technically and physcially) Motorola Phone.

You know what, I LOVE my Razr. I don't care what anyone else says. I bought it because it looks awesome. I take it out and people drool and want to check it out. Personally, I don't like to "follow the crowd" especially with cell phones. If you didn't want to spend $500, then by a piece of crap LG and quit complaining. I knew how much it cost when I bought it. It has excellent service and it's worth every penny. As good if not better than my Nokia's. 🙄

I think they call them trolls...

They're just bored people that have nothing better to do then to post complaints on message boards.

I think the best way to handle a troll is to ignore them. If they don't get the attention they crave, hopefully they'll look elsewhere.
