Need help with Speed Dialing

1-tough dialing works fine for numbers 1-9; but we can't figure out how to use speed dialing for numbers above 9. We get message that you need to dial the area code and the call won't complete. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Simple!

Enter the speed dial number, press # then the dial indicator.
