Anyone try haggling the cingular people?

now that you can get the razr for $289.99 at wirefly (with rebate), has anyone tried getting them to match that price at a cingular store? or will they not match it since you would end up with cingular anyway buying the phone through an online dealer? i currently have cingular, i was thinking of trying this.

Won't happen. Saving you $150-200 isn't worth an RSC losing their job. Especially if you're upgrading.

Agreed.

It will not happen at a Company owned store. Not only can't we match prices from other sites, we can not match prices from cingular.com.

jtycho: what state are you in?

Won't even happen in most agent stores. Considering it costs my store almost $420 to get a Razr it in the door, we will not match wireflys price. Most the time we will just make up some of the difference in accesories, but only for a 'new' account. Just my two cents.

wow..you've got a low price, it costs us $512 to get it in house. There's NO WAY IN HELL that we'd give in to haggling, not even for a BIG rate plan activation. It's in the best interest of anyone who wants to pay a lower price for the RAZR to wait til the 100 day exclusive is over.

The V3 was officially launched 11/15/04, so 100 days would take it to 2/22/05.

BUT I bought mine on 11/10, and contest phones were distributed before that, so it could be sooner....

HTH!

Hey that's my Birthday!!!

really though, the 100 days is probably counted from the date of the official release, not the contest dates. Simply because Cingular didn't ship the contest phones Motorola did. You'll probably see it drop after the 100 day exclusive as other companies begin to pick it up. Or at least a rebate to combat those that try to undercut Cingular.

The top 100 Best Buys in the US recieved their shipment in Yesterday. $499 on a one year....not a bad start. So much for the 100 day exclusive.

Can you choose what carrier (i.e., T Mobile) you want that one year to be with? Can you buy at BB without a contract?

I wasn't under the impression it was a 100 day exclusive to Cingular-owned stores. Best Buy would certainly be an authorized Cingular agent.

BBBsport,

Best Buy is not an authorized agent for T-Mobile, anymore. They have been kicked out of stores here in Texas anyways. I think the same goes for all the other stores here in the US. So Cingular it is. You can do a no commitment at BB, however there is a $150 up charge for doing so(buying the phone out of contract). I hardly justify $659 being worth it here. You can still do it for $599 at a Cingular store.

You are right that BB is an exclusive agent for Cingular. The reason why it is took so long to get it was the nego. of the price, and whether they wanted to launch it nationally.

Any luck on an insurance claim for your V3?

Thanks for the info. I didn't understand why you felt selling the phones through BB would be outside the 100 day exclusivity contract. Just another Cingular outlet....

No insurance claim to file. Still paying $3.99/mo, no copntact from Cingular to "void" the written agreement. 🙂

Can I just go to WireFly and sign up even though I still have an account from AT&T? I'm not under contract and don't care about my number.

The only website Cingular reps are able to honor is www.cingular.com. Even then, only Telesales reps can honor those prices, and they can only honor those prices after the customer has tried to purchase the phone online and has recieved and error on the site.

There is no way you will get a Cingular rep to match a price from another site/company.
