Yes, the top 100 BB in the US are carrying the phone. Mention you saw it online and you can get it for $399 on a 2yr. commitment. BB will do some crazy deals in the near future. You can still get it for $499 on a 1 yr. upgrade. That is what a Cingular store wants on a 2yr. aggreement. Very sweet........

I'm a cingular agent and I received a 551 from the last moto contest. I'd much rather stick with it than get a RAZR. Myself and other associates agree that the V3 is over rated. My point about the ad was though that BB is advertising it as having EDGE data speeds, when in fact it only has GPRS

You're entitled to your opinion, but "overrated" is pretty subjective. I, for example, think it's underrated. It is far and away the best phone on the market - for my individual needs. There isn't another phone that I'd consider to replace it, for one very simple reason:

Motorola V551 - 1" thick
Motorola V3 - .5" thick

For me, that's all the difference in the world. I now smile knowingly at everyone walking around the office with a holster phone while mine sits inobtrusively in my pocket. It's the same smie that I reserve for people that drive around with their BMW/Mercedes/Audi rear "autobahn" light on. 😉

again, my point of Best Buy advertising this phone with EDGE when it does not have it was over looked.

It hasn't been overlooked completely. It's just that the people in this forum have gotten so used to people attacking the V3 for it's price and short feature list that they defend it even when it's not being attacked. Some might say that they're trying to justify their purchase. Personally I don't think the V3 is overrated, just overpriced. It does everything it's supposed to do quite well, but for the price I'd want it to do much more.

As for the Best Buy ad it's probably a typo, or someone looking at the wrong feature list. I haven't heard of any version of the V3 with EDGE. Chances are it's a mistake, luckily most people don't know or care about what EDGE is yet so I don't think it'll be a problem. They'll probably fix it in the...

Since you're referring to my post, I want to make sure digitmasher understands that I didn't feel it was being attacked, and I didn't defend it. (S)he offered a POV, I offered mine. 🙂

As for the Best Buy ad, digitmasher, you answered your own post. It doesn't have EDGE, the ad was wrong. It clearly was a typo. Not much more meat on THAT bone!

I fear, and am almost certain, the $100 difference is if you sign up for service, not on a contract renewal. So for new people, it is a $100 savings. 😢
