I just bought a Razr and would like to transfer mp3s to it for use as ringtones. I have a bluetooth adapter for my computer. What software would be necessary? Can it be downloaded instead of purchased at retail?

You don't need any software if all you want to do is MP3 transfers. Your BT adapter should create a "My Bluetooth Places". Once you intialized the BT connection, you can to an OBEX push to the device, which will put the file on your RAZR.

How do I do an OBEX push? I am pretty computer literate, but I have never heard of OBEX. Thanks.

Once you've paired the RAZR with the PC, open "My Bluetooth Places" and follow the tree down to your phone. You'll see the OBEX push icon, and just drag and drop your mp3 file on it.

Also, you can right-click on the mp3 file you want to send and choose send, then bluetooth and so on.

As lapwolf said, your devices should be paired first, then the transfer should be automatic.

Total memory for the razr is 5mb. This is for pics and mp3 both.

I tried to do this, but I repeatedly get a message that the FTP connection failed, even though the computer recognizes a connection with the phone. Can you help?

It sounds like you don't have the device paired properly. Try re-pairing the BT connection between the PC and the phone.
