Whatever Happened to Cingular's 100 Day Exclusive?

When the V3 first came out in November, it was supposed to be Cingular's alone for 90/100 days. That ended in February. Why is Cingular still the only carrier? Any info/rumors? T-Mobile doesn't think they can sell it? What's the buzz?

Buy an unlocked v3, you won't have to put up with the Cingluar logo on the outer screen. You can get good deals on unlocked v3 on the web just as good as the price you pay for the Cingular version.

That wasn't my question 🙂 . I bought a V3 as soon as they became available (a few days before, actually 😉 ). I was wondering what became of the rumored 100 day exclusive - did Cingular extend it, was it misinformation, whatever.

100 days was from Day 1 of New Cingular. No misinformation there...

...which ended in February, if that information is correct.

But, I think Knifey Spooney has hit it. See reply there.

No carrier has released their own version yet. Though the 100-day exclusive period is over, noboby has picked it up yet. But there aren't any reasons they can't.

That's what I suspected too.

From what I've read, one of the things that has made the V3 unique is that it represents the first time a specific phone has been hyped by a carrier in ads. One would think it would be smart for DT to pick up the phone, since SBC has already created a market for it.

One explanation could be that the margin is too thin to warrant carrying it, I guess, particularly if they have to rebate it the way Cingular is. As someone said, the V3 is an expensive phgone to manufacture.
