As of right now, I think this model is only available @ Radioshack/Verizon stores. I bought mine from eBay for $150 (no contract).

Yea, we all thought it was going to be released this past weekend. But no luck. I called three different VZW stores in my area and they have not even heard of the V260. They all thought I meant the V265.

Does anyone know when - oh when this phone will be in the Verizon stores?

what i have learned:

i have learned that the v260 never will be sold by veriozon.
this information coming from a verizon store in a larger city then where i had recieved my previous set of info. I do not know if this was a ploy to get me to buy a phone now or if it was the truth, but it seems it is the truth, because no one withing the verizon network, other then radio shack knows anything about this phone. the verizon rep i talked to stated that they had recieved the v260 a while back ago, in the summer as a test run basis (whcih they often do in larger cities), and found that there was no point in carrying the phone due to the fact that it is the same as the v265 - camera. the price comes out exactly the same, so this ment that the num...

Actually if you go to the Radioshack website you can find the v260 - just do a simple search, I also called a local store and they told me that they had the model (Wichita, KS). Not to discredit who you got your information from but I think they may be mistaken. It sounds like another case of misinformed employees, or someone pulling your leg to get a better sale. Good luck with everything.

if you read my response, you can see that i did state that you can buy the phone at radio shack. which is ok...

there is something people don't understand
radio shack is an independent verizon dealer.
they have access to whatever CDMA compatible phones they wish to sell. This does not mean that Verizon supports the phone, meaning you can not get the phone serviced at a verizon store, nor could you use your new every two $100 credit towards the phone. THis is all asuming that Verizon ( a verizon store, verizon online, or verizon customer service) does not eventually add this phone to their line of phones. the rep i talked to said that yes, radio shack and other PRIVATE verizon dealers will/may carry the phone, and will be allowed to sel...

Interesting ...

So is there any real way to find out if they will ever sell it at a "Verizon" store? And are you telling me that I will have no support on my hand-set even though it has a Verizon logo blazing across the front of it??? If so, that's pretty scary they would do that to customers if they weren't going to eventually carry it on the web.

what i was told was that if you needed service to a phone that verizon themselves do not carry, then verizon would not service the phone within the store, but rather would send the phone off to the manufacturer, since it still falls into the warantee. this leaves you without YOUR phone for quit some time. what would end up happening is they would give you a referbished phone that they have in store, which is the closest to your phone, and is the same brand = the v265. which is no good for us who can't have a camera phone at work. you might be able to get them to get you a referbished LG 4500 or something while your phone is sent away, but it means you have to use a completely different interface for quit a while.

i found it scary.....

Well - I broke down and got tired of waiting for the V260 to show up at Verizon. I asked for other phone suggestions on the Verizon forum and someone suggested the LG VX4500. So I went last night to the Verizon store to check it out. I also asked the very helpful saleslady about Motorola phones and she actually steered me away from them. She said LGs are selling much better and they do not come back very often. She told me folks are not always happy with the Motorolas. I also asked her about the V260 and she had not heard that it was ever coming to Verizon and she said it probably would not because the V265 was there.

The LG VX4500 is a very nice phone. I got one for free with the New Every Two. I figure I'll test it during the 15...

Good luck with your 4500. I also looked at it before getting the v265. It has a similar feature set with the v260. The main cons for me were: all digital (no trimode), stub antenna and a lower user review rating than the v265.

can't really trust what the sales people say at a VZW store. i asked a lady about the Samsung A670 compared to the VX6100, she flat out said stay away from Samsung. she said LGs are better so I got the 6100, reception was horrible. I also tried purchasing by calling the 800 number to buy, the sales person said Samsungs are way better than LGs. So it's all personal preference. I stopped listening to their opinions after that. It's best to take advantage of the 15day trial to see what works for you. For me the v265 gave me the best reception and i'm pretty happy with it. As for phones coming back or being returned, it's weird coz somewhere in the on-line forums, i swear i read somewhere about someone who works at VZW saying LGs gets returned ...
