seeing that it supports PTT and GSM, it has to be cingular, unless T-MO suprises us with ptt but that is VERY doubtful.

also we dont know if it will be released in the US, meaning it could be thrown to a korean carrier for all we know

T-Mobile is pretty quiet before they launch almost anything. I'm sure they have plans for PTT. They seem to launch things after they get all the bugs worked out and not prematurely and disappoint their customers.

what is the difference between PTT and M2M? yeah, i know it is like a walky talkie but what is really the advantage when you already have free M2M? you still have to have reception and everything right?

You don't have to dial. Whoever was the last person you talked to is always just one button away - no dialing, no waiting for them to pick up.

And you can have an off-and-on conversation spanning hours, but only be billed for airtime while talking. Great for two co-workers separated by a distance, who need to ask each other quick questions throughout the day.

Plus group calling - you can press one button and instantly be heard by a whole group of people, and they could be scattered all around the country.

Cingular is probably trying to get a lineup of PTT phones before they ever launch the service to make sure that customers have a nice selection of devices.

Yeah PTT isn't my thing either but it will compete with the new Sprint/Nextel merger. since CDMA PTT service is TERRIBLE!! Hopefully PTT will only be released on EDGE devices. (Since PTT is send over packet data services.) This will make for quick connect times and reliable service. Maybe Cingular will benefit more from the Sprint/Nextel merger than Sprint will. 🙂 😉 🤣

This phone is on the T-Mobile Handset Roadmap and is scheduled to be tentatively released in July/Aug. No plans on PTT until next year as the technology is more dependant upon the device rather than the network. The only real requirement against the network is high speed data and maybe software updates.
