Siemens SX66 / MDA III / PDA2K (HTC Blue Angel)
The Official SX66 update!
I can finally stop holding my breath. I'm anxious to see which issues it resolves for us besides Bluetooth. It is a big file.
1 Make sure that all antivirus and firewall software is disabled.
2. Make sure the SX66 is connected directly to the computer and not through a hub.
I had norton enabled and it hosed up the install. Luckly I had only deleted the rom and not started the install. Rebooting solved the problem and the rest of the install went nomally.
Siemens tech people did not get an advance notice to review the installation process. They only saw the information as it was placed on the web site. They are experiencing a learning curve that may not be as helpful as needed but are trying to be as helpful as they can be.
There were a few on some other forums who had it freeze up and they had to re-do it. After that, it went fine.
After you're done, re-add any of the categories you put in for the Outlook files on the sx66 BEFORE you sync. That way your contacts, etc will go in the right categories. Re-sync, and it will make you give it a new name.

Then I opened the desktop my documents sync...

After rebooting the system with the Antivirus and windows firewall software disabled, I restarted the update and it was completed in about 20 minutes.
Unfortunatly I had to reinstall Norton and repair Microsoft Office 2003 for the desktop to be back to normal and ActiveSync to update from Office.
Hope this helps.
then click on service downloads to go to the page. may want to disable firewalls and virus programs which i have been told. my update worked with them enabled. on the first try they were disabled and no success. had to reboot and restart process.
Can someone comment on what the improvements were?
Biggest improvement is, I've noticed that my bluetoogh phone headset does not lose connection (it was loosing connection after about fifteen minutes and I would have to resync the headset with the device, probably avoid a traffic accident now). Additionally, I've noticed my active sync working much better and smoother (with my device in the cradle, connected to my pc via the USB, my active sync was not syncing all of my info. only about 95%, mainly my internet "favorites"). Lastly I've noticed a slight change/improvement with setting "new appointments" in my Calendar.
This phone is a perfect 10 out of 10.
