Siemens SX66 / MDA III / PDA2K (HTC Blue Angel)

Anyone got this phone? I have the page pulled up right now getting ready to order (after the horrible experience today in Nashville trying to buy this phone, only being told "NO" (see previous post).

Can I get a quick review from anyone? Good? Suck? What would you change?

Has anyone had any luck with using the SX66 as a modem threw either USB or Bluetooth? I have all the settings that Cingular gave me but when I try to connect, it always gives me an error message. I do have a unlimited data package.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I can't seem to find this phone on the Siemens website. Is it even supported by them anymore? Can someone send me a direct link to their product?

I downloaded aim from aim.com. It works fine when i'm connected through Wifi. But i can't seem to get it to work with the GPRS. I notice that through WIFI it uses HOST login.oscar.aol.com Port:5190 I can connect using proxy as an option. And from the paper that comes in the box about getting MSN to work it says something about ajusting proxy settings. Anyone have an idea on what to do?

Where is to the best source for downloads such as dictionaries,apps...accessories for the SX66?

I was browsing unlocked SX66's on eBay and I noticed for the text messaging and MMS features it "requires compatible receiving device". What does that mean?

You can't do txt out of the box?

Any word on if Siemens or Cingular will offer a software upgrade?

I have an MDA III with German OS (useless to me). Does anyone know how to re-set it in English? Thanks.

How do you turn this phone off?

Hey guys. I have a problem. I want my SX 66 to keep copies of my Sent folder, Saved folder, and inbox. (not the deleted folder) i can get the saved and inbox but not the sent folder. Went through options in active sync and couldn't get it to work. Am i'm blind or is it not possible?

Anyone using the moto hs810 headset with this phone? Everyone I speak to says all their hear is feedback when I use this headset. Any suggestions?

Can someone tell me the difference between mediaNet and a data plan? With MediaNet will I be able to sync my pda with my exchange server?

Can I use the sx66 to surf the net w/o a data plan on my minutes? The local Cingular store is telling me I HAVE to get this $59.00 a month PDA plan to even buy the phone! Sounds like total BS. I would rather not have any data plan (even the Media works) and just use my minutes to surf the net on Cingular's network (not WIFI)

With Verizon and the VX6600, I can surf the net useing my minutes only, no data plan. Can I do that with this phone?

I've had the SX66 about 2 weeks now and am having a problem with the phone. Several times, the phone audio is messed up. For example, when dialing a number, you cannot hear any dial tone, ringing of destination phone nothing. I verify the volume is turned up, etc., but still nothing. The only workaround is to do a soft reset...what a pain. You can still get inbound calls, but again very weak audio. I've not had time to isolate this further, but would like to hear of anyone else's experiences. Thanks for any help....Kent

Can this phone not have ringtones unique to the caller in your contacts?

Anyone else having this problem? I have had the SX66 for 1 month. About 2 weeks ago, the speaker began making a very high pitched tone. You really only hear it when placed within 1 foot of your ear. This occurs constantly when the device is powered on, making it pointless to own the device really and very very annoying to use as a phone without a headset. Rebooting it did not work. This looks like a hardware issue. Anyone else having this problem?

Anyone ever click to reply to a text message and get a deformed screen? You can do nothing with it. You can close it and try again and always get the same thing. I have to go into Running Programs and close 'Messages' running in memory.

Try former AT&T locations in your area. I know of two locations in Nashville (Opry Mills Mall & Cool Springs, TN) where they have multiple SX66's in stock. HOWEVER, this is the good part.

I go down there today to renew my contract and buy me one. Turns out they cannot sell it to me because I am from another state (bordering, mind you). Cingular will not let you deal outside your home turf, apparently. Can anyone say old USSR? So after I fool around town some thinking it over, I decide I want the phone anyway, contract renewal discounts or not. I go back and they now tell me that they will not sell it to me no matter what, even if I paid the full $650. What is up with that?!?
