Best Smartphone ~ Worst Carrier ~ Am I right?

I'm torn!
Thanks to phone scoop, after searching for the perfect phone tailored for my needs, I find it with good reviews! The bad news is it's with the worst carrier. I've never been an ATT Wireless customer, but I've heard and read and now experienced why they suck.

If you go through their website and purchase the phone, you are required to pay a minimum of $7.99 for a data plan along with a voice plan and of course we can't forget about the $36 "just cuz we can fee". When you go to choose the voice plan, they actually mark UP the prices compared to the voice plans.

Example: After you've selected the SMT 5600 phone, you move to the next step, which is choosing the data and voice plans. There's a little drop down box with all the c...

Waaaa!!!! I have ATT and love it!!!! I have had both cingular and verizon and only att will give me signal in my house!!! It's amazing!!!! I'm looking into getting theis phone asap!!!

ATT is horrible, has been horrible for a very very long time, and the only reason I am with them is my corporate discount and the fact they will soon be sweet sweet cingular.

There are a number of things you can do to combat this, and much as I love to villify AT&T, they're not doing anything that any other carrier hasn't done. T-Mobile "required" a specific voice/data combo plan when the HP h6315 came out, however if you talked to the right agent (e.g. one that knew what they hell they were doing in the first place) you could get whatever you wanted).

And pretty much ALL carriers offer some form of "different" plans, rebates, options, whatever to their new customers that their exsiting customers aren't eligible for. Doesn't mean you can't get the better rate--just that you have to ASK. It's not automatic. If you're not smart enough to ask for the better rate or at least raise the question to the carrier, the...
