5600 Start-up time
i was wondering how long (approx.) the 5600 takes from when you press the power button until the home screen appaers and the phone is ready to use. i looked at it the other day in the store but i had to go, it seemed like a long time. thanks everyone

it takes...a while. lemme time it for sure now. took 55 seconds. for reference, my previous phone (startac 7868w) takes 4-5 seconds. i dont know why the thing takes so long, but it's pretty bad since my laptop comes out of hibernation faster...

Startup takes a while because you have 3 splash screens before you get to the Today screen.
I leave mine on standby and pressing any key brings it out of hybernation immediately - no wait. 😁

55 seconds to startup???? That is a crazy amount of time!!!!! 😳 My Desktop computer boots up in half that time. Is this typical for smart phones? It seems ridiculous!!! Is it really just the start up screens that are slowing it down? Has anyone been able to successfully disable the startup screens? If so how long does it take to startup then? Also what kind of battery life should one expect to get if the phone is in constant hibernation?

the start time is really not a big deal. you can get a few days out of a charge, with moderate usage (including using it to listen to mp3s on the commute to work). and, it's not like you have to even turn it off when you charge it. so what's the big deal?
still, plan on turning it off and on, though, about once a week or so. i've found that is a more effective way at clearing the memory than using the task manager. 🙂
but, really, the start time is no big deal.

The startup time IS a big deal... it's painfully slow and that's one of the biggest reasons I sent the phone back. Not only was the startup slow, transitioning from one screen to another, one program to another was also very slow compared to other smart phones...
It is, by far, the best looking phone on the market but looks don't supercede functionality.

Let me clarify.
There are 3 applications loading, each with its own splash screen.
If you want a quick start, buy a regular cell phone.
This unit a windows PDA.
