Cingular discontinuing SMT5600
I have owned this phone twice and have had it stolen twice. After researching new phones on the market, I decided to go with the SMT5600 again. When I called them last week they told me that they had it. When I called them this week to order it they told me as of this week they had discontinued it and it was "oversold" and none were in the warehouse. I'm very disappointed.
Just thought I'd mention that since I haven't seen that mentioned on this website, and phonescoop says the phone is still active with Cingular, which it's not. I called back today to see if by any chance they found some (fat chance) or I had a bad phone rep or something...but no such luck.
I know I can purchase them somewhere else, but I have a better discount...

It's your lucky day! The replacement for the SMT5600 is on its way (though, when exactly it will be released is anyone's guess; according to various forums, brick and mortar stores in Texas and Flordia already have it). It is called the Cingular 2125 and it doubles the internal RAM of the SMT5600, adds a 1.3 megapixel camera, adds a bigger & brighter (if that's possible) screen, and numerous other enhancements. It basically looks exactly like the SMT5600 with 2 differences: (1) joystick rather than that weird rocker button, and (2) a hump at the top of the phone that is either an empty shell were a wi-fi antenna should have gone, or somehting that is supposed to improve reception on the 1900 band.

Its on Cingulars website today for 199. I like everything about my 5600 except occasional freezes and that *&$%*@# rocker switch!
