The V551 shipping yet?
I noticed that the people in the Moto RAZR V3 forum are posting that phone is starting to ship... Was wondering if anyone had anything on the V551 shipping?
The sales people at the Cingular store near me said they heard that Cingular was gonna be receiving a bunch of new phones soon... So far it looks like the RAZR V3 is gonna be a part of that. Now wondering if the V551 will be too...

I work for Cingular and yes, we are getting new phones soon. As far as the Razr V3 and V551 are concerned, we are actually having a contest right now to win those models. I've always participated in these type things, and usually what happens is we get our phones 6 weeks from the close date of the contest, and phones ship to stores within 2 weeks after that. So.. with that said, I would guess the timetable for these phones is still 6-8 weeks off. Then again, if you get phones directly from the manufacturer and not our stores, then that date would be moved up. 🙂

Why would cingular wait so long unless it so that they can have the merger completed by then. I think if other companys put the 551 on the market sooner then they are going to loose alot of business. ~Drew

Honestly, I have no idea why it takes so long to get the phones. AT&T and T-Mobile usually get a specific model before we do and I've heard that it is because Cingular does more extensive testing than other carriers. Again, it is only what I've heard, I dont know if that is a fact. I dont know exactly when the 551 will be arriving. I was only giving my perspective because that is what has happened last year with the V400. The V400 was supposed to have been released sooner than it actually was. I received mine in the mail 4 weeks before they even shipped to stores. Who knows though, I could be wrong. I just dont see this phone arriving in stores before the end of this month.
