Shipping Updates
Does anyone have any info on when this phone should ship. There haven't been any posts about this phone since the 3rd, so I am curious. Also wondering about how this phone will interact via bluetooth vs. the MPx220. I am trying to decide on which phone to get, although I am not sure how the bluetooth via the Windows operating system will play with my Palm T3. While I like the interface of the MPx220 more, than the V551 (I am guessing the v551 interface will look like the V600), I would imagine the V551 might be more compatible with my palm in terms of bluetooth (as far as sharing contacts, appt's etc.). Anyone have any insight on this.

Someone in the Cingular forum stated that it will be available the day after the merger. 🙄

Just stopped into the Cingular dealer in MD and they gave me the price of $119.99 for the V551, after a $50 rebate. The phone is supposed to be in during October. He also said that AT&T supposedly already had it. I went to their store down the street and they were clueless - had no idea about it. I will be calling the NBO for AT&T later today to inquire. Stay tuned....

Called AT&T - they have no idea if they will get the V551. They also had no firm date for the mpx220 - just "coming soon". I wait patiently for now.

AT&T does not have this phone YET, they are in the process of approving it, it will take a bit (remember they operate as separate entities until the merger). Cingular is the only carrier that has the v551 in north america thus far, but that will change. TIM has it in Europe.

Then where is it for Cingular??

Contract was signed two weeks ago between Cingular and Motorola, so logic is that by now Cingular has some v551 already. You'd have to ask Cingular where they are putting them, though.
Understand that at the beginning of the release of a phone there's only a few produced and then they ramp up production as they go along, so Cingular probably has a small amount of phones for now to distribute through the entire company. You might have to wait a couple of weeks for your local store to get their starting share.
