sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys... but cingular lost the exclusive on both the moto v551 & razyr v3... best buy yanked the rug out from under us, and release it in their cingular kiosks 11/01 and hold the exclusive through 11/15... hope this helps

Wait, so Best Buy will be selling it in their stores through Cingular. What's the difference if we buy it through Cingular.com or Best Buy?

well, if you buy it at cingular.com you will get a better price online and more information than from best buy. people at best buys have NO clue of what they are doing. they are young teenagers or young adults who dont care about their jobs, just want that commission check!

The thread may or may not have already covered when the phone will be released for consumers, but my question concerns the release for Cingular reps. Of those who won the V551 (or RAZR for that matter) have you heard any news as to when *we* will get the phone?

This was my first sales contest since I became a sales rep and I was curious as to how long of a period of time there was between the end of the contest and when you received your phone. Do the reps usually get the phone before launch? at launch? Any information would be a great help.

Our contest phones should be delivered to us 4-6 weeks after the contest ended on the 7th. I think November 1st is a little unrealistic for us to recieve them. My guess is around 15th of the month.

Last year when we did the contest for the V400, I recieved my phone about two weeks before I saw them in my stores or any other store in town had them. All I won was a V551.....it sucks having to register as management.

Thank you guys! I asked my co-workers who won the V400 from the last contest and they told me that it was about two months after the fact when they recieved their phones. I sure as hell hope that it doesn't take that long.

Yeah. If you sold 30-39 phones you got a V551.

If you sold 40-49 Phones you get a V551 and the HS810 Bluetooth headset.

If you sold 50+ phones you got a V3 RAZR AND the HS810 Bluetooth headset.

I sold 60. 'Nuff said.

The contest only involved selling Motorolas. We earned one point for every Moto V220 we sold, and two points for every V400 we sold.
The contest took place between Sept 7th and Oct 7th.

Motorola said the phones are being shipped out to the winners on or about Nov. 17th.

No...It works by a points system:

Sell a V220=1 point
Sell a V400=2 Points.

Umm I doesn't matter since it is through a cingular kiosk you can still get info from the cingular store.

The Cingular kiosks are a f-ing RIPOFF, at least where I'm from (SE PA). I just got a new LG L1400 for FREE by re-upping my contract, which I still had a year left on. Now this was by phone and due to my negotiating skills 😎 but the phone was being offered for free online for a 2 year contract for NEW CUSTOMERS, the only criteria which I didn't fit. But still, over the phone they are much more eager to please you, and they certainly pleased me considering the deal I got!

Now what about the kiosks? I went there about a day before I ordered over phone, and they DIDN"T EVEN HAVE the L1400 in stock. What did they offer instead? The DISCONTINUED LG L1200... for $180 dollars w/contract nonetheless! Talk about a ripoff! Now, I just went back t...

So...in any case...any word on when the v551 is coming. I called around to some Best Buys and they didn't have it, nor did they know anything about it. All of the Cingular stores keep saying that its coming. Anyone have any updates?

First off get your facts straight. NO BEST BUY HAS PEOPLE WHO WORK ON COMMISSION! They havent for atleast 5 years now. Second i work for cingular, sprint, and verizon and i know much more about phones then you do. Much more. I know exactly when this phone is slated to be released. Heard some talk about Cingular releasing the new motorola phones after the merger. When will that be?

Heard others say that it will be out Mid-November. (See In response to: Re: Cingular Release by wHiTeSoL) If it is true that the V400 will be discontinued end of October, shouldn't they have the new ones out sooner??

Merger is final as of today!! 😁 Bring on some decent phones now!

More and likely mid-November, according to corporate stores and our Cingular reps. Unfortunately. ☹️ Personally, I don't see as to why they delay the availability of phones, especially if the consumer is willing to spend TONS of money on the product. Our DM's and Cingular reps already saw the V3 at a luncheon. ☹️ It sucks to be the bottom of the chain. I'll go cry now...

I have to agree about best buy not working on commision, they get "bonuses". Second, most of them there DO NOT know what they are talking about, they just tell you what you want to hear to get you to buy the phone. Their prices are good though, usually better than anywhere else.

I don't know where you got your info about it being released mid november because that is incorrect. a number of Cingular employees are getting them in mid november, not the conusmer market.

Best buy employees do not receive bonuses! I was a Sales Supervisor for two years and like the previous person said they haven't been on commission for over 5 years. No spiffs, no bonuses, no commision, and no alterior motives! They may not know the most about technical issues with cell phones but I guarantee you they know the most about the advantages and disadvantages of each carrier and which one is best for you.

Obviously if an employee is new, or God forbid just a slow person, than the information will not be as good neither but in most cases they know what they need to know. And if they don't know the type of information that you need, well you need to know TOO MUCH!!

I must say you are wrong about Best Buy being no commission for the past 5 years. I know for a fact that's not true. A year and a half ago I worked for a national retailer who had the best buy account, and sales reps were most certainly paid commission and bonuses.

wow, so sounds like your one of those agents... anyway i have alot more access to this information than you do. my freind sell at best buy and YES he recieves commision. dont know what payplan or region you were in or are working in. and have you looked at cingular.com lateley the phone are hundreds of dollars less then in store pricing.. since I changed the pricing now you recieve a bundle kit with every phone purchase and thats 35 more... so you think you know but you dont.

NO BEST BUY EMPLOYEE IS ON COMMISSION!!! Supervisors and Managers recieve bonuses for hitting sales quotas each month. I know because I was a Best Buy manager earlier this year. No employee at Best Buy has been on commission for the last five years!

F ing Best Buy.....I hate National Retail! I have one up the street who is always sending me the **** they can not handle, which does have its perks at times. I am sure they are going to run mad sales on the V3, like they have with the V400, V600 and LG1400. I try to steer people away from doing buisness with them, since all they do is sell you a phone. Their return policy is peculiar as they has a supplemntal one to go in conjunction with Cingular's. I wish Cingular would pull out like they have done of the majority of the Radio shacks in Texas. I guess we will wait and see.

if you buy the phone from best buy, or ebay for that fact you can get any cingular plan you would like. only catch is you need a contract to get the promotions, like m2m included with your plan, or the new nation 1000R plan.

You are correct. When you buy a phone from Best Buy, they offer the same exact rate plan as "regular" Cingular stores. They do not have access to anything special.

Now for pricing, they can do what ever they want. They recieve different pricing and Spa's (special promotional allowances) to offer the crazy deals. No Cingular store could offer promotions like buy a v600 and get a free v400.

Don't forget that all BB does is new activations. Forget about upgrading, warranty work or insurance, they will send you elsewhere. So much for service after the sale. Of course with Cingular's new XBM and insurance, everything is done in the mail......a blessing and a curse.

Yes when the V3 comes out, they will run something crazy...but...

I talked to a Cingular rep today and he said that the Motorola v551 and the v620 will both be out in November.

The motorola v551 is available online. The cost of the phone is around $225.00. I would guess that when the phone comes out in stores that it would be around the same price. The website is www.mcc-store.com. The company is based out of Texas and it is an affiliate of cingular wireless. I have never purchased a phone online so I would recommend contacting them first before I would consider purchasing a phone from them. 😉

The mentioned website belongs to Prime Communications. They run rampant here in DFW. The are one of the biggest agents in the Uniteds States. I looked at their site and did not see the V551 for sale. Look for the V551 to drop around the end of next month. The V400 inventory has to be deleted for Cingular to sell the phone. The V400 is to be discontinued the end of this month.
