step by step (view important info @ bottom of post before starting):
1. download cingular orange file from www.myhellomoto.com

2. unzip

3. download pst and patch from www.vxxxstuff.com (application files forum) and install, to install patch, just unzip and copy to installation directory.

4. go to your installation directory ("program files/motorola/pst" by default) and open the program file called "multiflashflex.exe"
you may get an error message, no big deal

5. make sure the enable flash box is checked then click browse, and select the flash file you unziped in step 2

6. plug phone into computer via usb cable (ABSOLUTELY NO BLUETOOTH, phone suspends while upgrading and bluetooth connection is lost)

7. point windows to pr...

i just checked it out, and it may be because it has warez software on it (they had pst, mpt, etc hosted on there as well) also, i'm not sure of the legality of posting cellular firmware on the internet

Hey, I'm having some trouble with the multiflashflex.exe. Everything opens, and it detects my phone (all the drivers installed), but when I press start, the program crashes. I redownloaded it and tried it again, but again it crashed. Do you have any idea of what I can do?

my advice is to go to www.vxxxstuff.com as i'm not sure what the policy here is on warez software. the only ppl that r legally allowed to have the pst software "suite" if u will is the ppl that work @ motorola, and they can get this site shut down for its members having it, and we don't want that

like i said, go to www.vxxxstuff.com and ask around there, i'm a member, and its a great support community. for anything NOT involving pst, www.motomodders.net is a great site to go to also, but they have a strong anti-warez rule, and they will lock ur thread if you ask about pst or ne other warez

I have the added insurance on my phone. Would it be easier to call cingular and tell them that I dropped it in the toilet or something? Would they send me a phone with the new upgrade??

it would be easier to just get a data cable from ebay for under $10 and do the upgrade yourself, i did a how-to earlier in either this thread or the software upgrade thread. also, there is a "reflash" now available, which will upgrade your software again to 08.18.40R or 08.18.34R on www.motomodders.net the reflash is a software upgrade that will not erase your info on your phone, so all ur games, pix, ringers, settings, etc. stay as they are. i recommend going with the 16R then reflashing to the 40R as thats what I did, and I haven't had a speck of trouble

I already have a data cable, and would do this, but the problem is that everytime the Multiflash program connects to my phone, it crashes (and even turns my phone off). Everytime I downloaded it, it does the same thing... Is there anything I can do?? Or would i be better off calling Cingular and making up an excuse to have a new phone sent to me?? I just hope that they don't send me a refurb with the old package.

well, it sometimes crashes on me too, although i have the advantage of having a junk laptop barely new enough to have a usb port and it runs pst, and i can try it on there, i just keep trying it until it works, it should eventually although you may want to try downloading it from www.vxxxstuff.com and trying that download as thats where i downloaded it and it works great, don't forget the patch
