Going to Italy with the V551...
I've received conflicting information about whether I need to do anything with my V551 (cingular) prior to my trip to Italy for it to work there...
Do I need to install a card, or since it's quad-band it's ready to go?
My wife and I are going to Italy in July, and we're leaving a disabled son at home with some caregivers. Being able to be reached is pretty important.

Call Customer care and ask them to put International Roaming on your account. Otherwise your phone might be a paperweight over there.

It looks like you would be charged $1.29/minute over there with just International Roaming on your account. It seems there is an option for $5.99/month (Cingular World Basics plus Western Europe) which will reduce the per minute expense to 99cents/min. Still goes against your packaged minutes though.
