PTT capabilities???
I recently LOST my MPx220 which really sucks because I found out that the insurance that I have been paying for does not cover this phone. To top it all off this was a Euro Black version of the phone so when I gave the imei number to the Cing rep he never bothered to tell me that it came up as an unknown model. So anyway, Insurance says that since I have paid they will honor my claim with a V551 not the Mpx220. My question being that PTT is listed under features and I have heard that Cing is going to launch in in late November maybe? Will this phone be capable or will I have to beg them for a NEW phone that is compatible?

I haven't searched the forums yet on this but saw your post, thought I'd post my shout as well. The 551 is not PTT so sayeth the Cingular big dawgs and say it will not be able to "upgrade" to the PTT. But, my main question is, Cingular is launching the new v557 with the SCREEN3 technology and everywhere you search for the specs on that phone it says it's got "PTT" capability. Yet on on any of the Cingular rebate forms you'll see "LG F7200 PTT 50$ rebate".."Samsung d357 PTT 50 rebate"... then you see "Motorola v557 (NO PTT TAG mind you..) $50 rebate".. you think if it was going to be PTT like all the specs say, they would toss out a tag to the side saying PTT?
Anyone have any word on this?

Rep from Moto said that the V557 would have PTT. Speaking of that rebate form, Cingular has a lot of new phones listed on that rebate form that haven't been released as of yet. The rebate form says for purchases Nov 6-Nov 19. Duh...how does a the consumer purchase a phone during those dates when there's about 12 listed there that's not even available for purchase.

Hello, I have struggled with this and in our area SE Missouri the V557 has hit the market but it will not be capable of PTT. I dont understand the reasoning for this. Even the Nokia 6102 has PTT capabilities. You would think that Cingular would get more ppl to sign up by letting PTT be enabled on already made models. BTW I just called Cingular 2 hours ago and asked about PTT again. Same story

I think they love jerking us around. I have found that we, the customers, seem to know more about what is going on than the sales reps at Cingular themselves. I have been in the store time and time again and have heard the sales reps misinform customers about the features of the phone. When the customer gets the phone home and it doesn't do what the rep claims, the customer gets mad and switches to another carrier. It does no good to lie to a customer today to get a sale only to lose the sale and more potential customers due to word of mouth publicity of unknowledgeable reps.
Yes, that's stupid because Cingular has had several phones out in the past that were PTT enabled. PTT was supposed to be available last month. It's still not availab...

Hey you must have been in the same store that I was in because our story is almost identical. My wife finds it amazing when we go into a Cingular store and I know more about the phone than they do. We just go to look at the physical phone. I have even had a rep walk away from me when I started spouting off specs about a phone that he knew nothing about.
BTW- "according to cingular" PTT is available in the St Louis region as of 11/19/2005.
That was their story yesterday. I am thinking about writing them a letter, if I could ever find an address.
Good Day!

They must train all of their across the board to say the same exact thing--no matter what location they're in. I know that it sucks to see a sales rep misinform a consumer. I'm glad to be in the know, but what about those that aren't. That goes with any item in any store. I hope Cingular gets it together soon.
