Would you people quit arguing over which carrier is better. Different things work for different people, lets just leave it at that.
Has anybody out there actually used the 890?
Does it have video because someone in a different forum said it didn't, but it is listed as if it does have video record.
How does it compare to the vx8000 or the Audiovox 8940?
Can you mute the shutter sound?
Does it have more than one alarm?
We need info.

here's some inside info on the a890.. which I'm sure would answer most of ur questions...
a890 is certainly a good & handy phone to use.. it has video.. can record 15s clips. and there's an enormous 4MB space avl to record videos.. it has 4 alarms to play with, and a cool 1.3 MP camera, again with a 4 MB space for the pictures! the shutter sound can be muted too; unlike many of the gsm phones taht i have seen!

enormous 4 megs of space? That's really not that much. I filled up my 10 megs on my 710 pretty quickly. I guess if you're not using mp3's, it'll last a while longer.
I have used the phone, it's a pretty standard Samsung phone (most similar to the 790 world phone in terms of menus). I wasn't able to use the streaming videos, I don't live in an EVDO area. 😢

For the video and phote taken on the phone, there are 8 MB for them
A 15sec video takes below 0.2 MB; that's about the same size as the picture taken in the highest resolution (1280x960). So it's about 40 pix + flix, if using the best quality and highest resolution.
Also, video and photo take, plus the wallpaper and ringtone downloaded through GIN, there are 14MN for them.

I could try to answer some of your questions since I've actually played A890 for a while.
Video - yes, it can record upto 15sec video.
Comparing - I've never seen 8940, so I don't know... About Vx8000, I like Samsung UI much more; and A890 is smaller and more stylish (personal opinion)
Shutter Sound - Yes, it does have silent option in shuter sound.
Alarm - Yes, it has FOUR alarms.
Video - yes, it can record upto 15sec video.
