All right, don't all y'alls chew me out, and sorry if this has been posted before but I've been looking around for a new phone (right now I haver Verizon) and I really want a SE s710a, but I have heard that because of the merger Cingular is going to sell their GSM network to Altell and switch to cdma. I'm really confused and any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but I can promise you that is not the case. Cingular has spent millions of dollars improving their GSM network and currently has the largest nation wide network of any other carrier. They will be improving their network in the next few years by adding capability for 3G + HSDPA, but for now GSM is here to stay.

Not only that but it wouldnt make sense... GSM is a better technology. It can carry more people per site leading to fewer dropped callas and network busys. Plus it is the international standard, so it gives a huge advantage for international customers. Plus Alltel... i know that they bought spectrum from cingular in diversture markets, but arent they cdma. they are (or were) in Ohio when I lived there... Alltel doesn't even exist in California so I have little to know idea what goes on with them anymore.
