I played around with an S700, obviously just about the same thing as the S710. All I got to say is, God couldnt make a better phone! This is by far the best (in my opinion) Sony Ericsson I've ever held in my hands. I was considering a P910, but it completely blows the P910 away. I really don't like the Symbian OS deal, P910 has no Megapixel camera, and the P910, plain and simple, no longer appeals to me after handling the S700.
I just hope they release the S710 soon. I'm really anxious to get my greedy little hands on it! đ

How's it goin' akaszuba,
Lucky man đ - Where did ya get to play with the S700? Was the one you saw in SILVER color? I thought they only have s710's in the USA not S700's. lastly, do you know perhaps if the S710 will ever be in silver maybe from a different service like T-mobile? I really want in in Silver but I'm hearing it'll only be in Black for the USA. Thanx for the input!

The s710 is a Cingular exclusive....No T-Mobile.... and the phone only comes in black! Sorry....
...
You're kinda wrong there, somewhat. The S700 (The silver one) will work on T-Mobile's network. Of course the S710 is an exclusive to Cingular because Cingular is the only American carrier with GSM 850/1800/1900, which the S710 is exclusively made for.
On the other hand, the S700 is made for any carrier that supports GSM 900/1800/1900.

My friend bought one, she has service with T-Mobile, which the Silver S700 is made to be used with, using 900/1800/1900 mhz freguency. The black one is made for Cingular, which uses 850/1800/1900 mhz frequency. So to answer your question, the Silver S700 is made specifically to be used with carriers that use 900/1800/1900 frequency, such as T-Mobile. Whether or not T-Mobile will offer the phone, I don't know.
I'm not all too sure about this, but I have Cingular, my father has T-Mobile. Out of curiousity, we switched out SIM cards on our phones to see what would happen. My phone connected to T-Mobile, which is a locked T637 from Cingular, and his connected to Cingular. So, maybe the Silver S700 would work on Cingular's network? I re...

the phones share the 1800/1900 frequency bands, which both T-Mobile and Cingular support, so they'll work on either network. But because your losing the 850/900 bands, your signal wont always be that great. Also, if you put an s710a on the T-Mobile network, you'll lose the EDGE support, as that is Cingular exclusive. The s700 doesn't have EDGE, so you'll just get the lower signal when using Cingular.

First off T-Mobile uses GSM 1900 Cingular (before the ATT merge) used mostly 850. Now afer the merge you could use either phone on either carrier as they both have networks that operate at gsm 1900. Just fyi the 1800 band is primarily Asia and the 900 band is primarily Europe.

I have seen and held the s700 as well. It felt very solid. as for size -- I can only compare it to the razr I was also checking out and my phone - the motorola v600. as for thickness, the razor is as we all know very thin. the s700 is almost exactly the same thickness as the v600, maybe a few mm thicker. the s700 is about 5 mm wider, and about 10 mm taller. I know the s700 seems to look big in some of the pictures, but it's not. other than it's thickness, it's the typical candy bar size of phone like my old nokias 8890. The razr, for the record, is wide and tall, and though it is thin, I don't get the whole "thinner to put in your pocket" thing. If I wore a suit, it would work in the inside jacket pocket -- and I guess they're sellin...

No. To open the phone, you must do it manually, and though I had heard that you can do so in either direction, that was not true for the one I saw. You can only open it clockwise.
...
The reviews said you can open it in either direction, but you must close it back in the same direction ie no 360

I know that's what the review said, and is may be true for the 710 (but I doubt it). All I can tell you is that for the silver 700 which I had in my hand, you could turn it counter clockwise only. If you tried to force it to the right (counter-clock) you would break it.
