I just called my local AT&T/Cingular store and they still don't know for sure either. All they could do was repeat the same information people have already posted here... so "some time this month, possibly this week or next" is about as good as we can do I think.

Don't buy it from eBay at least until it is released, and don't buy it from some average Joe, I'd recommend sticking to the eBay stores. Unless you're willing to take the risk of getting scammed, which people are more than known to do on eBay.
