faceplates
Some internet sites have started coming out with faceplates for the 8940. I went to a Verizon service dept and talked to a tech about changing faceplates. She said not to do it yourself b/c it voids the warranty on the phone, and you can mess something up. But I've changed covers before on other phones I've had and I feel pretty confident I can do this one.
It looks to me like there are four screws holding the front faceplate together. But you have to remove those mirrored cover plates first. There's one long skinny one along the bottom (just above the hinge, below the Verizon logo) and two small square ones at the top left and top right (next to the speaker grill).
If anyone has tried removing these covers and got a new faceplate attached...

ebay now has faceplates for $2-3, but they get you on shipping....still cheaper than anywhere else though. You must get an 8940 faceplate, but can get an antenna for 8900 or 8910 and it will still work.
