my freind has a phone with tmobile, the sharp tm150, it has a memory card slot where he is able to put in a secure digital card and take pics and put it on the card and then take it out of phone and take into like walgreens or walmart and print out the pics.
Is this phone or the lg 525 gonna have that same capability. iwould think so since they both have memory card slot ,but was just curious
thanks

It would have to work that way. Memory card would be useless if it didnt work that way. Only way I can see sprint making it hard to get the pics off..if they try to make it that way so u have to still have pic messaging to get the pics off..is to make the picture format on the phone unreadable by everything but the phone..but i dont see that goin down.

If pictures can be written to the memory card by the phone, then they'll be able to be pulled off the card by a PC. Maybe not at launch, but it'll happen eventually.

Even if SE tries to use a proprietary format to make it difficult, SOMEONE will write a utility to pull the images off the card and convert them to a usable format on a PC. Security through obscurity simply doesn't work.

Sprint definitely won't let you just simply move pictures off the memory card onto the computer, then pcs vision would be pointless to buy and they'd lose money. But someone is obviously going to have to write a program that will allow it. My friend has the Nokia cameraphone that Sprint has and he's been a customer with Sprint for about 8 years. He's so mad at the fact that Sprint got Nokia to water down the phone to disable IR transmission of pictures from the phone to his comp that he's going to switch over to tmobile so he can get a sidekick II. But just like that, someone wrote a program that will allow you to do it so i'm sure this will work the same way. it's only a matter of time.

From the info on the specs sheet, it appears that the memory card will specifically serve my underlying purpose: MP3 ringers of MY choice, not the cheesie ones they force you to download; I can customize my own ringers and drop on to and SD card and then tweak it that way! 🙂

My only complaint is the J2ME platform that makes web browsing such a horrible experience. I still plug a cable from my old Samsung 8500 into my Axim for that; yeah, it only goes 14.4, but is still a much better browsing experience than those stupid phones! Of course, Sprint yanked away the 1RTT cables right away for all the 3G phones! 😡
