EVDO - EVDV
I've read a little about this technology. I don't know much, but from what I understand of it it's supposed to be a leap for internet and messaging. Can anybody tell me if it's worth waiting for? In other words, the next phone by Sanyo will more than likely have this EVDO or EVDV technology. If this is the case it seems this is the last phone that will have all the bells and whistles without EVDO... I'm sure there will be more without the EV stuff, but they won't be like this. The display on the 5600 is what I'm desiring the most. Does anybody know if it will allow multimedia screensavers? I use MatrixM.com for most backgrounds and they have some that are animated, but my current phone isn't supported. Does anybody know how this phone will s...

I am sure it will most likely accept Animated ScreenSavers. I have the Sanyo VM-4500 and it supports animated screen savers they have to be in the PMD or CMX format. If the 4500 does then the 5600 should.

I was told by my field sprint rep the 5600 will have EVDO technology.
...
thats a big ten four... 5600 is one of the first EVDO phones for sprint... although sprint will not support evdo fully for a while... next few months.

What proof is there that the 5600 will be EV-DO capable? All I have read is that the 5600 will NOT support EV-DO.

I heard that it is not going to support EV-DO. I was told the first EV-DO phone for Sprint would be that Samsung A890 or w/e the model # is I'm not sure. Phonescoop doesn't have it as being EV-DO capable not even sprintpcsinfo.com

I do not know if this phone will have EVDO or not, but I would advise waiting for a phone that does have it, if this one doesn't. I just got the LG VX-8000 for Verizon, and trust me, the EVDO is well worth the wait. It is absolutely awesome.
I used to be with sprint, and I know that Sanyo always was the first manufacturer to have new technologies on their handsets, so I would not be surprised if they found a way to sneak EVDO on this phone at the last minute.

True that would be awesome. Maybe that's what's causing a hold up on the phone. I don't know how simple it would be to upgrade this phone to be EV-DO capable but if they managed a way to do it I would get this phone in a heartbeat.

ok so check it out... sprint is rollin out evdo soon but not any time REAL SOON... this phone, according to what I read in the press release should support EV-DO once we actually launch the EVDO system. I'm not completely sure when any of this should be. I read sanyo's press release - basically took it at face value... if it's not EVDO oh well.. its still going to be smokin!
