SANYO MM-5600 seen in Vegas

mrcellphone

I had the opportunity to view the new Phone in Vegas during CES. Quite a beauty. Unfortunately am not up on all the technical stuff. As far as price and release date Best Buy will not be the only retailer offering the phone. If the phones are in the warehouse at Sprint i would purchase from them, before Best Buy------
Best Buy is not a reputable dealer. The best bet would be if Costco plans on carrying the phone. Costco currently sells the 7400 I hope they sell this beauty as well.
I can't wait for this phone/camera to come out!!!

Best Buy is all about selling one over priced extended warranties and then not honoring them when something goes wrong. My favorite line is when they say "we don't work on commission" true but they'll sell to their last breath the extended warranty.
Returns--Have you ever tried to return something there??? Good Luck!!!
Best Buy is only good for buying Blank DVD's when they go on sale

Yes Best Buy tries to sell extended warranty on just about everything electronic. But just say "NO", its not like they twist your arm or hold a gun to your head.

Secondly, if you get a new PCS phone, get the insurance, don't forget all phones come with a one year warranty. You don't need to go back to Best Buy if something happens to your phone. Take it to a Sprint store and there you go.

But Best Buy is still a really good store where you can find a lot of things your looking for.

I used to work for one of Best Buy's competitors. I can say with complete certainty that they do NOT work on commission. The reason they push the extended warranties is because they get "spiffs" (monetary incentives) for selling the warranties. And they are also on quotas where the warranties are concerned, so they must sell them to keep their jobs.

And as far as the returns are concerned: I have had absolutely NO problem returning anything to them. I actually bought a digital camera once, dropped it a week later severely damaging it, and they exchanged it with absolutely no problem at all.

I don't know where you are getting your opinion from, but you have not dealt with the right people in Best Buy if you are having these problem...

I work for best buy, we dont get anything for selling PSP or PRPs... I dotn know what you are talking about.. I can go weeks without selling that stuff and nothing will happen to my job. So I dont understand what you are saying... Our PSPs are good, just need to call the 888 number and you get a new phone is 5 days, or if it's within a year you go to sprint store and they do it instantly.. Sorry we dont cover you running over your phone or losing it. If we did people would just say they lost it and get another for free and have two. Think if you bought this sanyo and did that two times, you'd have 3 phones and be able to sell the two for 400 plus on ebay and make a 400 dollar profit... It just can't happen... Would you do it if you were best...

All you guys are clueless. They have this system called "ESN Tracking", If you tried to say that you lost a phone to get a replacement, and then tried to reactivate the old one, the phone would come up as a false serial number, and the activation would fail immediately. So no, sorry, no selling phones on e-bay genius. Number two, if you are not getting spiffs for selling service plans, best buy is definitely cheating you, look for another job. And third, the phone will come out whenever it's released and the price will be whatever they decide. There's nothing you can do about it so why argue about it!? 👿

yeah but it's best buy, we dont go or dont have that tracking system and nor are they going to invest in it anyways.. We already have a very lose policy for returns, and that is that... No there are no "spiffs(who uses that word) for selling service plans. And nor should they, they are part of our job to sell them and to protect the customer... not all service plans are the best for certain products but there are a lot, and I mean a lot that are and get used daily in my store. Things happen to products and without the service plan you get screwed and the customer is pissed and we can't do anything about it. So that's tough... Go buy an Ipod, and dont get a service plan, after 30 days guess what the battery goes dead... Guess what you got to ...

Dude, i'm sorry, but you are just about the dumbest person i've ever come in contact with. First of all, sprint tracks their phones dumbass, all Best Buy does is vend sprints phones, which is exactly the same reason you couldnt steal a phone from best buy and activate it. Just because best buy isnt tracking it, it doesnt mean that sprint isnt. So now that i've made you feel like even more of an ignorant dipshit than you already know you are, on to service plans. Service plans are 100% profit for a company, so obviously companies are more than willing to compensate their employees to drive these sales. I know a couple people that work at best buy, and they make spiffs. And the reason i call them spiffs is because thats what they're called!!...

i must say that, is the dumbest thing i've ever heard i'm a sprint rep for best buy, and they are performance service plans not warrenties, they cover everything except for loss and theft and misuse. If you have a problem with the phone they pretty much give you a new one. also the prince point on the 5600 is 449 with the 150 instant rebate and possible 20 best buy instant rebate also!

Thanks for the price point info, that helps a lot.

As far as the other stuff goes, be careful and get the lock/line insurance
