Does anyone know of a way to get around paying the full price?

Hello all, I've been reading the forums on the 5600 and I want it so bad. I had the 4500 and upgraded to the 7400 but didn't think it was worth the difference at all so I'm excited for this one now. Anyway, I wish I didn't have to pay full price even though I will.

I talked to someone who said she went through the Sprint website and activated a new line of service to get the phone she wanted. She got the $150 instant savings plus $30 off for web special. Since there is a 14 day return policy she said she cancelled service with no penalty but was able to keep the phone. In other words she did not get a refund of her money, she just paid them the amount for the phone only. Does anyone know if this is possible or if this has happened before...

I was wondering the same thing. Some people say yes some people say no. My buddy works at Sprint and he says that most likely the customers account will get flagged. He however also called it the "proverbial loop-hole." I would say its a 50/50 chance. If you take that chance let me know the outcome.

This tactic DOES NOT WORK! I tried it and got burnt (deservedly so, i guess). If you think you're gonna get away with it, wait until the next billing cycle after you cancel and you will definitely see the full SRP of the phone charged to your bill.

That's a really good point, thanks for letting me know that. I thought it was a good idea but I knew it had to be too good to be true. Plus I don't want any negativity on my acount.

Are you 100% sure about this? I was going to do this with a friend at the Sprint store. You sure they would bill your account? I want to make sure before I do it. I mean the other option I have is to add another line to my account which so far has been costing me $0.00 and just swap ESN's but I don't want to have to do that if the other method works. If you do get the phone billed to your account can you return it and get a credit afterwards? If ...

there is ONE way that supposedly has a decent shot of working... i've never tried it though but a fellow co-worker of mine when i worked at Sprint claimed to have done it a few times without fail. I will not post that method due to fear of abuse.

KevC84, I have read a lot of your messages on this phone and you seem very knowledgable. So I will advise you not to try this. When I worked for Sprint I thought this was a way to get around the system also. Luckily I actually asked someone, but said a customer inquired. I was told by the 2 supervisors and internet sales that the customer will defintely be billed later for the difference. Just my advise and experience.

Well thanks for your advice. I still don't know what I will be doing. I might just add another line and swap ESN's as my last resort. Or I can try and call customer service and see if they can add the upgrade code to my account. I have been a loyal customer for 3-4 years now...

*fraud...do not attempt!*

Buy the phone

file an insurance claim for lost phone

sell the new one on Ebay

nearly free 5600

--------------------------
I'm not sure it would work but it's the skanky way around it.

Only problem with that is that Lockline will not have the 5600 for a while so you will get either a MM-7400 or MM-A700 and then you will get upset and that never helped anybody.

Hehehe that happened to my friend, she had a pearl 8100 and it got rained on and she filed a claim and they sent her a VGA 1000! And it was over a year after the 8100 came out! Not only was she mad but it kinda pissed all of us off...She sent it back but it was a good way to compare quality.

Will not work. The lost phone will be flagged and will not be able to be activated.
